You made me smile. I was quite shocked when my Grandson who was then only 5 years old, blurted out one day that his Nanny (me) had smacked him! It was a complete lie and my daughter fortunately did not believe it anyway. Thankfully I have not been accused since! Just imagine if someone had believed it! A fine write Wendy, love Dolly x

Oh, I love this story--and the picture. I hope it's your story girls. Little ones can be so honest, in addition to telling tales. Your story gave me a smile this morning.

Ah, great story, Wendy! I loved the surprise ending and Dad's surprise as he found out where the toothbrush had been. If only he had listened to Clara first! Sweet and funny and well-written. Great job.

Thank you very much, Jim. Yes, "if only". I'm sure he regretted not listening first!

Ewwww! I am shaking my head while laughing. He may want Clara to tell those tales first from now on to avoid any unpleasantness. Thanks for sharing your funny story.

Oh yuk! They say the truth can be stranger than fiction and now we know it can even be more ghastly. The moral is only the teller of the as yet untold tale can know its importance.

Ha! That's what dad gets for putting Clara off, lol! Reminds me of the times I've given my cats "kisses" only for my husband to tell me that it had just been cleaning its butt:-(
Delightful story. Should have entered it into one of the many flash contests that seem to be running right now.

Thank you! The moral I guess is that one shouldn't jump to conclusions about children and their "tales"! Lol.

-Good image and story to go with it, Wendy.
-I can hear kids reading this going, "Ewww!" at the end.
-You tell this very well. It seems like Dad should have listened to Clara.
-In the meantime, Jackie, "such a treasure, so sweet-natured", was very affectionate with her father, and he finally got around to Clara.
-Too bad he didn't listen, bet he will the next time!!!
-Well done.

Thank you Pam. Yes I am sure his listening skills will improve and he won't be so quick to rush to the little one for kisses!

You are welcome, Wendy, and I think you are right!!
Comment from Bill Schott
This story, Telling Tales, is hilarious as Dad realizes he has addressed one social issue while becoming victim of one that is certainly seen as the greater concern. Yuck.

Thank you Bill. The funny thing is that she doesn't tell tales that aren't true or important, so I am sure he'll listen first next time, instead of rushing to get kisses!

Hello Wendy. I am usually offended by what I call toilet humor yet this one is adorable anyway. The fact that father was getting kisses all over his face and arms and Jackie had been sucking on a toothbrush from the toilet screams yuck! But I get the gist of the true tale and that Evi always or usually tells tales instead of the truth.
Thanks for the laughs!

Thank you for reviewing Jesse. Yes, the moral of the story may be to listen first. She doesn't normally tell tales that aren't important, and she does always tell the truth - so he would have been wise to listen first. It's easy to jump to conclusions.

Yes, we are all guilty of jumping to conclusions from time to time.
