"...made a significant contribution to developing some new predictive models." [I didn't know there were any new predictive models. I thought companies were using the same models they used a hundred years ago. Actuaries are considered some of the most conservative people on the planet. The joke goes that they look both ways crossing a one-way street!]

Jim, you either have a tremendous knowledge of Insurance principals, or you did a heckova lot of research for this story. I'd never heard of the "the Naïve-Bayes conditional probability theorem." However you derived your information, it adds an important note of believability to your story! Are you also knowledgeable about computer science?

Another job well-done.

Jay

I am knowledgeable about computer science, having been in the IT field for about 30 years; however, the part about the Naive-Bayes theorem is probably bullshit. I researched a few things, but I'm not really sure if it applies. It sounds good, though. Just hope a real mathematician doesn't call me on it.

I'm certainly not a mathematician. But you B.S. good about Insurance. If anyone would be capable of commenting on it, it would be AnnMuma, but she would be too sweet to drag your tush through the mud, LOL.

Abby had such a good boss and then it all fell apart. I worked with someone like Stuart who actually took stuff I did to the boss and claimed it as her idea. I certainly agree with Abby's decision. She is very good at a job that is mostly male and that can be a problem.

Sorry that happened to you Carol. That has to be very frustrating.

Thanks for the good review. Jim

This made me sigh a lot. It's the way things can go in a male dominated world, without going into it, my brilliant son in law was squeezed out of his position in a major bank in the same way, politics I'm afraid, the world is full of it. I was a lousy politician in my working life, Beautifully written Jim, I had a friend studying to be an actuary, blessings Roy

Yep, politics. A new general manager came into my company once, having been selected strictly by politics. He proved to be incompetent after a few years and got canned. Political appointments are an unfortunate fact of life.

Thanks for the good review, Roy.

Okay. So we fast forwarded quite a bit here. I think you created a good approach to do that. There were no real issues unresolved so the transition was believable. Now it's Abby's time to face adversity. I'm intrigued by what's to come.

Good chapter in my view.

I see Abby has many of the problems that many women have working in traditionally male fields. I have a daughter-in-law with a PHD in biology. She sees this often. Thank you for sharing this with us. I can't wait to read more.

I turned in my resignation the next day. (the following day)

Thanks, Barbara. I would have thought things would be better now than in Abby's time, but I guess not. Sorry your daughter has to put up with that.

Wel, from the n into the fire. I did not see the latest part become what it likely to be. Stay at home mom? Where's the pellet going to be from here. Golf was far more interesting. j.k. Looking towards the next chapter.
