Hi Heather,
This poem shows that love is much better than money and material goods.
Love keeps your soul alive and as long as you have food and water, love and faith is all you need. You chose apt artwork.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Congrats on placing second in the contest.
Joan

Hi Maria,
A noble thought. But I wonder how many women would really choose to live in poverty with love rather than luxury with stability. Love won't feed you, clothe you, or house you. And what about the kids? What about your health? And then there's that other thing... why is he poor? Where did he go wrong? Is he a slacker? Has he no pride? Begging on the street is no proper life.
"He threw gold at me" ... I don't look at this line as a callous act. Rather, he was as generous as he could possibly be. He gave her the world, and "wrapped (her) in fancy furs" ... nice alliteration there. He couldn't do enough for her. But she picked the local beggar. Love won out, even if it meant a poor existence. Choices.
Good Luck in the contest!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Your three line poem shows that love is what matters, the depth the wrap of love and not the material stuff. Well said Heather and I love that emotional photo, a perfect pairing of words and pic.
Cheers

This 5-7-7, Cold and Hungry, has the proper formatting and sees a soul that has chosen a life of hardship with love over one where the cold even greater.

For most, gold and fancy furs are preferred. For some, true love is the reward for some of our most difficult decisions.

Your words give this picture a story - very well done.

That's a strong message. One can choose physical poverty over emotional poverty if there is no love, life would be hard to live. It seems the poet is addressing a previous loved one because the "him" is the real loved one. Since the contest says it should address a loved one, I wonder if the pronouns should be swapped:
he threw gold at me,
wrapped me in fancy furs, but -
I chose poverty with you.

Fantastic poem. Money can't buy you love. I fell in love with an economically "poor" man but our love and our lives contain so many riches, so many memories. I love your poem and thankyou for sharing.

Excellent entry for the 3 Line Poetry Contest. I know what you mean, give me love over riches any day. Good luck with the contest.

Hi Maria :)
Perfect adherence to syllable requirements for the contest.
Love has nothing to do with superficial, material things, it runs deep - great job illustrating this.
Good luck!
Best wishes as always, Debra

Yes, choosing love as it says in the line above the title is the only way to go! I would choose love over gold and furs any time of the week. I know you would too. This photo speaks loud and clear about a homeless couple seeking hugs from each other rather than being alone in a house with no love. Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem.
