I am so sorry for your loss and your few words are heartfelt. It is so hard to lose a parent and we feel like we are very alone in the world without them, I could feel the love here, love Dolly x

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Dolly. I appreciate it and your feedback. Thank you; it is difficult, but I know she's still with me, just not in a physical sense. Thank you again. Take care. :D :D

Hi,
So Sorry to hear about your loss. I know how it feels to lose your mother. I don't think it gets any better no matter what age you are when you lose her. I lost mine when she was almost 92 just a couple of years ago and I still miss her all the time. I really liked this mini tribute to your mom.
Good luck with the contest!
Susan :)

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Susan. I appreciate it and your feedback. Losing your mom, I'd say, is one of the most painful losses we can experience. I'm sorry for your loss, too. I'm sure she's smiling as she watches you continue with life. Mothers seem to have that special power. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

This is lovely - gets the message across in a simple way, using very few words but nevertheless impactful. Thanks for sharing about your love for your mum.

I find I'm often at odds with the FS critical population. This recognized, "all-time-best" poem has lovely sentiment but very little poetry. I feel like I'm wasting my breath making such criticisms, and I'm also aware that many writers on FS receive my negative criticisms as painful. I wish to hurt no one's feelings, but "Hallmark"-style poetry is ordinary and sentimental while not bringing anything noteworthy to the reader.
You were still in bloom when taken/ unripened, incomplete/ Injustice makes a fire in my heart

So very well said, so sorry for your loss..I know the feeling well.
My mother left us in final sleep in 1959, (I'm 88 years old)...yet I remember her last day, and I can see her face with me even today. Love never ends...even though time passes...

Your 3 line
poem said much!

Warmly,
Victoria

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Victoria. I appreciate it and your feedback. I'm thrilled you enjoyed this little poem. I'm so sorry for your loss, too. It sounds like you were young. I was 26, almost 27, when Mom left us. Like you, I still remember her last day vividly, but I also like to believe she's smiling as she watches me...maybe even walking beside me, even though it's not in a physical sense anymore. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

P.S. I love your phrase "left us in final sleep." May I have permission to use that in a future poem/story?
reply by mrsmajor on 18-Jan-2023
I was just 25, and she taught me all I know about being a mother...I'll aways remember my mom!

Of course you may use that saying, as often as you wish. I just hope you won't have reason to do so, anytime soon.
May all those you love and care stay well...You too!
    Hugs!

    Victoria..

Thank you for reading and reviewing, Jen. I appreciate it and your feedback. Thank you. I hope so, but I honestly joined for the experience and to see if I *could* write a poem. I'm thinking of dabbling with it more in the future. Thank you again. Take care. :D :D

Thank you, Linda, for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it and your feedback. I'm so sorry for your loss, too. My mom was 60, and besides her cancer diagnosis, she was healthy. It was devasting losing her, and the pain creeps up in my weaker moments, but I am thankful she's no longer suffering. She battled it for several years, and it returned a second time before it took her in 2012. My heart goes out to you. If you ever need someone to chat with, you can message me. Thank you again for reading. Take care. :D :D

This is a beautiful poem. I started to write one in similar vein to my brother who left me behind six years ago, but my thoughts didn't come together beautifully like yours-so I took another route. I hope it does well!
