Nice story. Well told. well written.
So, tell me. Here it is January 5th. Are you still walking once or twice a day? Has there been a single twice-a-day? (smiley face here)
The nice thing about resolutions is that you can make them over and over again.
Best wishes and good luck.

Hit or miss with the walks. But better than nothing. Weather hasn't cooperated much either. Thanks so much for this nice review. Gretchen

Hahaha. We all know hear our pet's voices, don't we? I find this comforting for that reason alone. (Yessss! It's not just me; my friend, Gretchen hears it, too!!) And I like the way you "sneaked in the teaching": Do what YOU think is right for your body. Don't set yourself up for failure. [When a dog says it, we'll listen. When those words come from a human? It's the equivalent of the sound Charlie Brown and friends hear when the teacher's speaking!!]
Very fun read, Gretchen! A perfect start to a new year of writing!

Thanks so much, Rachelle. My dogs talk to me all the time. My beagle has a mouth like a sailor! Lol. I appreciate the review. Gretchen

Haha! It's always the small ones with the biggest mouths!

This is the wonderful time of the years when the whole world jumps on the bandwagon and wants to get fit or at least lose a few pounds. But what I like best is how the gyms are so crowded that you can't get in through January. Of course, by the second week of February, all the resolutioners have dropped out. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I just love that my dog has seen me at the top of my game and the worst part of ir. Never judges. That's a full on human quality to judge. Thank you so much for this great review. Gretchen

I don't remember when I made my last New Years resolution. It has been a long time, I think. It was always so disappointing and seemed designed to just make me feel bad about myself. Who needs that? I'd listen to Pip if I were you.

This is the perfect new year story that demonstrates what many of us do...make New Year resolutions that we forget about by February. True, it's fun coming up with ideas for self improvement. Pip is a wise friend, who in the end lets it be known he doesn't have a weight problem. My favorite line in the story, "resolutions are like you chasing your tail." Great job.

This essay, Resolutions, Not Promises, brings the doing the thing right down to defending your decisions with the one other --interested party -- who may be the only motivating voice available.

This is clever, and told from the dog's (pov) is where it becomes brilliant. However, I'm not sure what resolution you want more, to walk the dog or lose weight. I'm thinking perhaps they go hand-in-hand. A great piece, Gretchen! Best, JohnC

Funny you should say that. Pip is currently in talks with a major network. Lol. Thanks so much for this awesome and fun review and the stellar rating. Much appreciated. Gretchen

That is such a funny commentary, Gretchen. With me it's beginning again on my meditation for twenty minutes in the morning. I do think I felt more connected during the several months that I meditated each morning. My Spanish lessons are on autopilot. I haven't missed a day studying Spanish for going on 3 years in late January. My exercise isn't an option. At my age, I need that. I wish, though, that I had Pip's easygoing attitude toward happiness. So the two of you have a happy New Year!

I journal. Trying to wean myself of phone a bit more. Instagram, Facebook all of that. Good luck in the New Year. Thank you for the awesome review. Gretchen

The phone is no problem with me. I honestly am afraid to investigate what folks find so intriguing about the phone. I see them scanning, enlarging, smiling, scanning some more, eyes never leaving that screen. I'm afraid there's a trap awaiting me.

Excellent. Your Pip has a lot of wisdom. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another, and we each have to find our own path. And who said dogs can't talk? Yours does, and so does mine. Well written.
