When we are blessed and truly know the feeling of giving back in return the world is a beautiful place. I am sure with your kindness and heart within the story, your father and everyone else you touch in life is proud of you.

Hugs, Carol

I absolutely loved this entry for the contest, Terry. How the simplest kindnesses can alter our life and the lives of others. This explains a lot about you and your giving nature. A pleasure for my reviewing day. Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the upcoming contest,

What a truly wonderful story and a perfect entry in this contest. I think you must have a very big heart, so no wonder your heart medicine was so expensive. ;") (It must have been Eliquis.) Thank you for sharing this delightful story. I enjoyed it so much! MM

this was a nice holiday story about a good Samaritan handing you $100. I only have one suggestion, and it's minor. Cut some of the speech tags in this bit of dialogue. with two people are speaking with each other is usually unnecessary to hang a speech tag. The reader can follow a two-way conversation without any trouble.

The fella beside me, maybe fifty years old or so, said, "Maybe this will help." He handed me a hundred-dollar bill.

I was a bit flustered by the offer but said, "I don't know about that."

(The man said,) "Consider it a Christmas bonus."

(I replied,) "But I didn't do anything to earn it."

"Well, then we will consider it a Christmas loan. Pay me back the next time you see me."

"I don't know when that will be."

"I don't either, but I am sure it will work out."

Nor, thank you for the review and for your suggestions. Speech tags are tricky for me. I agree with your premise. Usually, I get criticized for not enough, but you make a good point about two people. Thank you, Terry.

This is another of your lovely stories about doing good for others and never expecting repayment. I have now reached a point in life where I can do that, and you are so right, it feels wonderful.

Awwwwww!!! How wonderful! "Pay It Forward" in action, as I take it, and bless you for doing it. I think sometimes that people forget what it's like to have struggled when life is going smoothly for them -- you obviously don't, and your two-part story is beautifully told. Good luck in the contest!

"A Christmas Bonus"
This comes in handy, especially when it's unexpected.
...
This was well written rich in Theme and Imagery.
It also, read well and Flowed well with No Grammar Issues.
...
Complete Synopsis:
The Adjective and Objective Contents were both Excellent and Exceptional while Descriptive Measures Aligned most Perfectly.

I think, had I been your parent, I'd be very, very proud to call you "son".Some years ago while shopping at a supermarket I became confused with the wrong credit card and thought I'd have to leave all my shopping. From out of thin air (it seemed) an angel of mercy appeared, who paid for my shopping, sorted the credit card with a wave of her wand and left me with $20.00 cash in my money purse. I never knew who she was or why she did it, but I was deeply thankful and know now what it feels like to be on the receiving end of a kind act. It was right on Christmas and her purse was stuffed full of money, so I am sure she wasn't 'made short" by her generosity. These days I make sure to donate generously to the Salvation Army and if I ever get the chance to reciprocate, believe me I will. cheers Cass

I like this Christmas bonus story. It is a touching story. An interesting thing about giving, is that we often get back far more than we give. (Even if the gift is anonymous.) I'm sure your father is and has always been proud of you.
