I feel you captured something beautiful here, putting nature to the forefront. This child in your story understood for a moment the value or beauty of a tree. I also enjoy writing about nature.
-Your story highlights the interconnectedness of nature and that the survival of a tree is dependent on the others surrounding it. Your poem reminded me of this.
-Sparkling in your story is : it's central theme and message, and how a simple touch can resonate. Truly lovely story.

This was definitely written from a unique perspective. I haven't felt sorry for a tree since Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree. You did a great job. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Aww, thank you, Jessi! What a wonderful compliment! I love all plants, but trees especially.

This is absolutely gorgeous! I love the sense of near permanence meaning that, despite not moving, the tree and the kind of person it represents can still become wise.

Wow, Fleedle, I love your perspective on this story. You were able to connect with the multiple levels. I do believe, that even the most remote personality type, has a need for contact. Sometimes children can bridge gaps. Of course, I love trees too.
Take care,
Rhonda

That's a great perspective to write from. I love when writers lend animals and inanimate objects a human outlook and voice concerning the world around us. Great artwork you chose also.

Thank you for your review and comments, Amahra. I often personify objects and animals to try to get points across in a non-threatening way. I think it's the teacher in me.
Have a good week,
Rhonda

What a beautiful flash fiction that addresses human and nature relationship. It's very genuine and moving. I didn't know that trees have longing to be touched. I will do it next time when I see a tree which is everywhere in my surrounding.
Well done and good luck.

They are definitely organisms that are very old. I'd like to imagine they have feelings.
Thank you for taking the time to review!

That was simply lovely, Rhonda, a touching, emotional flash fiction story narrated by a tree. I do believe trees and plants love to be spoken to, they enjoy being touched. That the little girl filled that need in the tree, was so sweet. Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

While the story was written as an allegory, I definitely do believe that plants have feelings, and especially feel strongly about trees.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read and review!

-Lovely artwork, Rhonda.
-It is nice to see a post from you.
-I appreciate your notes.
-A well written story using the tree to
represent many emotions a person might have.
-You get across the idea of longing very well.
-I like the use of 'rooted' in the beginning.
-A very good ending with the touch of a child,
who represents innocence and acceptance.
-A very good entry; good luck in the contest.
