I enjoyed this poem, and I do think it is a clever well-written entry for this contest. Good luck. It is a cool picture you used. The message of the poem seems right on point to me. Good job. Terry.

As always, appreciatively yours.

For me the last stanza says it all. "
Thus, mind your p's and q's
or they will act out
the good and bad of you."
Also like the sound of "Cherishable cherubs"
An outstanding job describing the important role a parent plays in a child's well-being.

Appreciate your read and review. You'll be nominated if... there's one to give.

Tom,
Right on. I did think one thought: is it "reason" that arrives and assaults truth with lies...? or is it that olde truth: "knowledge" that does so, or is that exactly what you are saying, that the tree of knowledge equates with the arrival of "reason" which then, with lies, assaults truth and thence innocence is lost....?
Great baby photo!!!

Reason for us is based on age. Eight is the magic number though if a child possesses the ability to know right and wrong before then they likely will still be held accountable, but it is the age where children in our faith are baptized. Reason being how can one know wrong if they have not reason. Can a newborn be found guilty? A toddler?

I love this Tom and she definitely is a sweet adorable cherub. You are so perfectly correct as far as this one (your granddaughter?) or any other child. They live what they learn, and how they turn out can so depend on how we act in every day of our life. This poem was beautifully written and I honestly wish you the best in the contest as this is so deserving my friend. And this sweet baby is so deserving and who knows you may have to watch, as you too are deserving..

Our daughter, 1992. Adopted. Closed. Never had anyone reachout. Both our girls came through teenage prgnancies when they were younger than 16. Their lives were improved as were ours.

Every parent should read your words, and take note. So many times you hear parents berating their children, and then wondering why the kids yell back. Well written. Beautiful image of your sweet daughter.

You have revealed so much of youself here, your family life, and your views on life. And it was delightful. I think there is some hereditary in children, but yes I agree most of what appears to be hereditary is actually mimicry, so we have an obligation to guard not only our words but also our actions. Much enjoyed. Kate xx

Thank you. Both are girls were adopted so learned behavior is in large part our responsibility.

Great picture of your adopted child and fantastic response to the prompt. An insightful poem of how children are sponges and soak up everything their parents do. Well done.
