Okay, I recognize from some of your signature remarks such as 'this old guy's opinion', as well as a couple of other singularly attributes of your writing.
I enjoyed this piece AND I love Humpwhistle's post -- every one of them. When I am in competition with him, I typically mentally move my spot to --at the very least - second place and work down from there. This site is made better by Humpwhistle's contributions. I actually make notes sometimes from his character descriptions -- why is it, even though we ware working with the same words, he is so much better at the phrasing!!!1

When I first joined this site (reading capacity only), I became fascinated with flash fiction written by humpwhistle. I clicked on "read" selected flash fiction, and the first page listed about 30 humpwhistle flashes. Six months later I became a full member, and humpwhistle reviewed my work. He is an extremely creative master writer. Is he really Lee Child? I love Jack Reacher novels and movies. Thank you for this ode.

I'm sure Lee will blush, and then give a broad smile when he reads this. You're right, he's a great writer, and if you haven't read any of his, 'I'm Larry,' stories, you must. I think I've read them all. He is also the only author I know who can write a fabulous story about nothing and have me laughing. Well done with this, and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

Yes, I suppose I am. But I also value the very rare reviews I receive from him, and I often wonder what makes him tick (although I have never gone as far as to try and work out his true identity).

Well, I could not agree more that Lee is one of best whose stories are entertaining for just about everyone. His creating the particular characters on the seedier side is always fun to read about.
