I got a little confused by the wording of this poem. To start with, the lovely vision is haunting your gate, so I thought perhaps you were dealing with a ghost. When I got to the end, I still wasn't sure if Kate was dead or alive, a ghost or a hallucination. And I couldn't figure out why you could only enjoy laughter and joy at a gate. Whatever she was, love was indeed expressed.

Thanks for taking the time to read and review my poem. Kate is no longer with us. At the time of writing she was .Perhaps she is now a chost. I hope so because she would be a kind one.

"Sweet Kate" is accompanied by an interesting painting depicting a complex woman. The poem itself doesn't present such a woman; rather, it is devoted to a romantically idealized woman who is described in the diction common to love poems. It's a good poem, but the long line nine could have been metrically corrected with 'May Kate be always by my gate' or something like that. The long line could achieve emphasis, but for me it is merely klunky.
