Life is full of those blessings in disguise that you speak about. Life is always a balance of positives and negatives but we tend to see only the part that we focus on. Happiness is a choice - not always easy but always possible. Being grateful for where we are and what we have is the best way to find and receive life's blessings.

I'm pleased for you that you got a placing with this story because I think it is very good. It seems to be harsh reality's job to bump us down a notch. The voices expressing opinions about being married or single are accurate depictions of attitudes. God's divine intervention has provided a blessing in disguise - we don't always see it at the time. I am sure your garden will blossom again.

Thank you so much Jan, it took my 12 years to gather the courage but last year I finally got out. Now all is left is to file for divorce, I am much happier on my own. Me and my kitty against the world.

Always a conflict, isn't it?
1st sentence: "wake" should be "woke" or "awoke" This to agree with the past tense of "got" in the next sentence.
11th sentence "that" should be "than"
With the right belief system that conflict dissipates.

I don't know. The story for me is an enigma. I liked the author's note far better. Anyway, poetic license allows anyone to write as they might, and the readers can take in what was meant or be perplexed.

I am so happy for you. I married late too, but I misunderstood the message and now I am at a crossroad waiting for the Divine intervention:)
