This is a lovely family outing read, Wendy and how propitious the timing of your trip, the swarm of budgies and finding the koala. Two lives were saved and a career was made. I have seen swarms of budgies in the north of South Aus. but not that big. Congrats on the contest win,

Thanks so much Wayne. Lovely review. A budgerigar is a bird, like a small parakeet. They come in many colours, and some people keep them as pets, but I don?t like to see them in cages. I should add this to the notes.

Hi Wendy,
What a great story! Sis accidentally killed a few Budgies, but you saved a Koala mom and baby... "Lucky" and "Chance". That must have been special.
Both of my grandmothers had Budgies, and incidentally, both named theirs "Joey". My grandfathers loved to play with them, but my grandmothers cared for them.

Wendy, another good story, but I am confused there must be some pretty good fiction in the story, it is posted as fiction, but the contest rules clearly say a real-life story. Just for my own edification which was which? On the other hand, if your objective was to confuse an old man, you have succeeded! LOL, Terry.

Apparently it has to be a "real life family" outing. Mine is my real life family and an outing. Most is true, a bit is not. The organiser of the contest posted hers as fiction apparently, so on that basis, I felt it was okay to put mine in as fiction. I find it confusing when contests are required to be or allowed to be "real life family" with some fiction in the story, or true story with some fiction. To me it doesn?t make sense to insist on real family if the story itself doesn?t need to be nonfiction. I don?t usually enter such contests but this time I thought I would.
Nevertheless I appreciate and thank you for your kind and supportive review.

This family outing provided many benefits. First, your sister gained driving experience. A koala and her baby were saved (thanks to you), and your sister was motivated to study veterinary science.
