Thank you for sharing this with us, Brett. I learned about the Sumers in school so I found it fascinating to suddenly be confronted with them again. Thank you for sharing you highly interesting work. I'm learning all the time. Ulla:)))

What an incredible collection of historical events you're gathering, I remember some German friends saying when we took a trip to Turkey after staying with friends in Dubai, why do you want to go there, I didn't reply, but felt like saying, "When you lot were swinging around in trees, this was were civilisation was founded." Beautifully written Brett,
Blessings Roy

This is a good historic writing. It can be improved by eliminating listings and writing these things in paragraph form. E.g., You wrote:
"***ruling much of the Near East and Nubia
***agriculture and mining of various minerals
***an independent writing system
***assorted trades with other countries
***a strong military
***building pyramids..."
This might be better stated this way: 'Ancient Egypt is known for early engineering, such as the building of the pyramids. It also had a strong military and ruled much of the Near East and Nubia.' Making sentences out of what remains of the list on Egypt will improve the writing. Also, same comment regarding other lists in the work.

This was extremely informative. I really enjoyed reading. I have always wondered why civilizations didn't develop at the same rate. I would think logically they would, but they didn't.
