The current war shocks us, and each day we see more victims. Many Ukrainians fight valiantly and admirably, and many Russians are fighting and dying in what for them is a brutal, senseless war. We can only hope that someone can end the bloodshed.

You poem is so timely and well written. It takes us into that horrible war that is raging in Ukraine and honors that brave souls that fought so valiantly for their homeland and in spite of being outnumbered so badly caused great losses for the attackers.

What a most interesting Japanese form that you have adapted to work in concert with The Charge of the Light Brigade. When I heard of the ship going down it rather reminded me of Sinking of the Bismarck. War is just such an unfathomable thing.
That said, you have done a wonderful job of this poem, and I have no idea where all this will end.

Like the rest of the world, I wonder each day when the travesties will end, as I pray for the Ukrainians and, like so many others, contribute money and food for the refugees. Ukrainian soldiers have shown themselves much more courageous than devil Putin expected! Your poem movingly details the most recent actions in this ongoing war.

I learnt Charge of The Light Brigade when I was in 8th Form. It was lovely to read and remember those lines once again.
I had learnt it byheart for a revitation competition.In.my days it reciting poetry was a big thing in.schools.

I agree. I watched a YouTube video last night about the russian oligarchs are pretty upset and want Putin to cut it out. Some sway we should give Putin a way out, allowing some kind of victory. I don't think he anticipated the Ukrainians would not surrender and would fight so relentlessly.

I read about one oligarch being upset - I'm sure a lot are because of the sanctions. No one thought the Ukranians would do so well. Looking back, Zelenskyy should not have made light of it in public (although I'm sure in private they were preparing). Well, he's proven himself to be a strong leader.
I don't know if they should give Putin a victory. Sometimes I feel that way just to end the bloodshed. But I don't think Putin will ever stop trying to take Ukraine - so depressing.

You are right, I doubt Putin is ready to give up. He won't accept defeat. I hope Russians will get fed up and see the light. I think it's the only way out.

My grandmother told me almost sixty-two years ago, she said, "God warned man to leave the water alone, and to stay away from a certain place in the atmosphere, not to go over a certain invisible line.
