I like reading about animals in stories, especially well-written ones holding the readers' interest. I agree with you about building relationships because they do take time to develop. I enjoyed reading your chapter.
Just a small suggestion, re: It is Pat, but why would he be here?
...as an inner thought, she probably would not be thinking in proper English.
You might use a contraction instead of It is
in order to have it sound more natural.

I like reading about animals in stories, especially well-written ones holding the readers' interest. I agree with you about building relationships because they do take time to develop. I enjoyed reading your chapter.

Pat introduced himself at a diner, then showed up a the house and asked Ali out. Pat and Cord have history. We will learn a little more at the dance. Thank you.

It also, read well and flowed well with no Grammar Issues.

I almost missed this entirely, Barbara. I'll have to go back and see when it showed up on my queue. Twice, during dinner, she mentioned seeing Pat, but nothing came of it. I have a hunch she'll see him again before the night's over, perhaps at the dance. Dang! That rib-eye sounded good!

This is another great chapter. It moves your story along nicely. I do not see any room for improvement. You added a little suspense with Ali noticing Pat. I had to look up who he was then it made sense.

Because she was trying to make a joke about Samson being a bear, he's a Newfoundland. When she first met him, she thought he was a bear. At the restaurant it was evident that bears in town could be dangerous and it wasn't a joke. Thank you for the kind review.

In Texas many cowboys were bandanas around their necks, a sort of scarf. Earlier I described the purpose, in case a dust storm rolls up and they move them over their mouth and nose. LOL Thank you for the kind review.
