Excellent entry for the Memories writing prompt contest.

I love this .... The essence of the sea... Excellent imagery of sight, sound, and smell. I wish I would know the boating lingo.

Well crafted and engaging. Good luck in the contest!!

It sounds like you are an adventurous soul. Myself, I prefer to keep my feet on solid ground. Your descriptions are marvelous. I can't imagine a 50-foot wave and never Intend to encounter one. Good entry for the contest.

It is a thrill. You can spill a meal until...
you get your sea legs. On the really big comber I was on a converted aircraft carrier, the USS Wright CC-2).
It's worse on a cutter the size of a destroyer, and thank God they
had the speed to get away before they grew that large.

This is a well written piece, you did a nice job with the prompt. The descriptive words you chose created vivid imagery. The artwork is just right and adds emotion to your words. Well done.

I enjoyed reading your poem and getting an idea of how sea duty appeals to a Coast Guard sailor. We get a vivid impression of what it's like during a storm and the Speaker seems to like being young when entering a new port and meeting new women.

Most sailors talk of conquests. Not me. I toured the places I visited, and though I sailed with the Coast Guard three times in Alaska I was ttdy or tad from MetDet, USN, North Island, San Diego, Ca..

I enjoyed your descriptive poem, detailing a very vivid account in scenes that you have enjoyed in your past seagoing exploits, I've always liked the sea, but probably rarely ventured out, there was an innate respect and fear of it too, a beautifully written free verse my friend, blessings Roy

I loved it. As a weather aerographer we took hourly obs for sky coverage, wind, temps, waves heights and time lapse between them. All helped to forecast events to come with a worldwide cast of fellow weather-guessers.
