The old twist on "we are what we eat" right? As an RN and one who is anaphylactically allergic to all shelllfish I'm going to toss in my little warning here:

"Can someone eat imitation crab if allergic to shellfish?
Likely not. This is due to the fact that imitation crab typically contains 2% or less of king crab meat and also contains natural and artificial extracts from the crab's shell."

Conrats ont he contest win...and the comedic flair here is contagious!

(However as one who ended up in the ER after eating artificial crab, I'm a wee bit leaning on the cautious side!)

LOL

Ha! I didn't know that! I thought imitation meant exactly that! But Shhhh! They'll take back my first ever win! Hahaha! Thank you, Karenina.

Very clever and intriguing, seems you know how it feels to be caught in a trap. The writing prompt was not easy, you rose to this challenge with a sweet entanglement. Congratulations on your First prize award!!!

Thank you, Lynn, for the kind words. And yes, I've been trapped a few times, but that's here nor there. Thanks again

I was immediately thinking of the imitation crabmeat salad sandwiches my mother made us. Yum. She knew how to flavor it up so you didn't care if it were imitation or not, whatever that meant any way. This has nice tongue-in-cheek humorous irony. Great work.

Dear John,
This poem is perfect. I find it meets all the contests requirements in such a delightful way. The rhyme scheme makes the flow so even. I found myself agreeing with you during and at the end, nobody catches imitation crab. Witty, funny, and delightful. Best wishes in the contest.
Blessings,
Darlene

    Dear entrant,
I have never had it. I prefer clam to crab. Best wishes in the contest.
    Blessings,
    Darlene

Simplicity reigns supreme herein and the humor I find is divine, but I wouldn't take on a plate of imitation crab which is schroud (sic) mush-up and serve imitating something God had never meant it to be. I like cod just as much and once upon a time it wasn't so costly.

Ah, imitation crab, or as it's known in the imitation crab industry, surimi, I've been told. Pressed, formed, and colored pollak. A gourmand's delight.

I like your take on this oddly interesting contest.

I wish you best of luck.

Peace, Lee

How cleverly you have put this story together. Writing it as a conversation between a real crab and an imitation crab grabs the imagination. The clever twist at the end is perfect
