It is a very hard thing (I would think) to deal with the Jews and Palestine. There is right and wrong to both sides. My personal belief is that the Jews should have the land back, but then you're displacing other people. A no win situation. Have a great afternoon. Shirley

I agree with Gandhi's claim at the end. All this started (pastor has been preaching from Genesis these last few weeks) when Abraham disobeyed God and got into the cot with Hagar! I did not know till recently Hagar was given to Abraham by Pharaoh in Egypt. Very early in this chapter...criti(ci)zed

I guess this could all be characterized under the 2000 year Holy War?
Interestingly enough with all the people involved and all the violence.
What's the purpose of it?
Come in violence is usually over land possessions and idealisms.
An example would be what's going on today in Somalia.

I tend to agree with Gandi's changed mind; "the Jews have a prior claim." I am sure this could be debated forever by numerous intelligent people depending on who they have sympathies for. Again, thank you for sharing.

I've been studying the Lost Texts of the Bible dealing with the taking of the Holy land by Joshua and the men of Israel and it's still a controversy 4,000 years later. What a wonderfully written and informative essay. Best of luck with your writing!

It is sad the the attempts to reclaim Palestine has resulted in some many deaths. No one gives their homeland up easily without fighting for it. I didn't realize what happen in 1982 with the Lebanese military killing so many had a connection to Zionism. I thought the Lebanese army was made of of Christian factions. Your account of the area of the Sea of Galilee continues to be interesting.
