When I think about all the self-proclaimed Messiahs in history I usually think of Jim Jones from Ghana and then of course David Koresh.
(the fake Latter-Day Saint)
The first one was predominantly crazy and made everybody drink poison.
(Grape Kool aid)
...
The second one David Koresh of course influenced the parents of young female so that he could take advantage of the children.
Many people that were innocent died also.
I personally have come across two of these type of people.
The first one just thought he was Jesus Christ and had Evil Jesus tattooed on his back in Jesus Christ tattooed on his chest.
On a shoulder he had the Virgin Mary and then is very own father.
He thought that there was people up in trees and buildings with guns pointed down.
When I asked him about it St James stated that he was Jesus Christ and they were protecting him.
...
The other man's name was Christopher Scullecty
He formed a church called the Lamb of God.
I stopped in to listen and see what was going on one day when I was late to my own church being that I was riding a bicycle.
He was another Jesus look alike with the long hair the wooden cross the sandals.
I had difficulties with this one where it was actually going to court.
Even though his church was on a graveyard site since I crossed the boundary and put a note through the door stating that he was breaking the first two commandments pretending to be Christ he had the police come to my house so I had a court date.
I pleaded innocent there was never a second court date
The rumor was he went he wound up in a mental hospital in the state of Texas.
...
I think you're posting about all the self-made Messiahs that were going to save the Jews was interesting.

You have certainly told me things I did not know in this piece. As usual, you did an excellent job. The next time you post, I will give you a six for the times I haven't had one. I don't care if it's about a cat. Have a blessed day. Shirley

I can see my education is very lacking. I've never heard of any of the examples you've given. Thank you.

Zevi's legacy includes somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000 Donmehs in Turkey who still practice Muslim in public and Mystical Judaism in private. (never heard of this)

Thanks for sharing another fine chapter. I'm hoping you have all your surgeries over and all your tests back by now, and a bright and healthy road ahead. :-)

I am continuing to enjoy reading this history of the Jewish people that I didn't know anything about. I hope you plan to publish this because I think it would be of interest to many Jewish people as well as historians.
