Some animals are like that. . .they just fill your heart with joy. What a lovely story about Copper. I've had Retrievers and yellow labs. . .he really sounds more like a Golden Retriever. We had one that lived to be 15 too.
Such a nice, well-written story. Best of luck to you in the contest.

Love the story about your dog named Copper. Dogs can get to a person for sure. We have had dogs our entire life and now we have none. The last one left last June but it was for the best.

This is a nice story, Ramona. I am a dog lover myself, and whenever one of our dogs passed away, I shed a few tears. We no longer have dogs because of our age, but are always glad to dogsit for our grandchildren when they are away from home.

Thank you Paul! I understand. Age is becoming a factor for me now also. I look at the dog that I have now and I know she may well be my next to last dog. She will be gone in a couple of years. That leaves me time for one more dog before I am to old. To petsitting!

This is a beautiful story of a dog that meant a lot to you. So many people wouldn't be willing to adopt an older dog. I admire those who will and make the last years good one for that animal. I really enjoyed reading this.

Thank you so much! I?m so glad you enjoyed reading about Copper. I hope more people will be inspired to give a Senior dog a chance. The short time we were together was well worth it! Thank you for your review!

Thank you for telling me about Copper. It is a great story. Whether you own over the years many dogs or cats, there is always one who just wraps him (or her) aroundeven your heart that after they pass they still have hold of your heart.
Good luck in the contest.
Best regards
Mary

Mary, thank you so much for the well wishes and the nice review. Yes, you are correct. There is always one that seems to grab you more than the others and just touches your heart in a more special way. For me it was Copper.

I enjoyed reading your post. Cooper reminded me of my yellow lab, Codi. The best dog who ever lived. I do understand.

"You want those ducks do you?" "Good luck!" I said as he looked longingly at the ducks then back at me. (not sure why you have two sets of quotation marks, on set would be enough)

"I think they can fly faster than you can swim. " Again, the forlorn look (Move the final quotation mark closer to the period in the post it's on the next line.)

What a wonderful little boy! You gave him a good life, even for a short time, that he wouldn't have had without you. I once had a Great Dane that was my soul mate. I was devastated when he died. Every loss is as hard as the last one. Now, I worry about PC who needs antibiotic shots every two weeks, and just turned 13. He is an exceptional cat, very smart, almost human. I enjoyed this sweet story very much. I can really identify with how you felt.

Thank you so much for the sweet review! I do hope your PC lives a long and healthy life with you! Copper was my Soulmate as was your Great Dane. I do think we get more than one though. I have the most special girl now that is joined at the hip with me. No one like Copper though. Thank you again for such a nice review!

This is a captivating and heart warming story of a girl and her dog. Your descriptions of Cooper were nicely detailed and clear.

I have a suggestion for future stories if you want to submit them before the Fanstory committee in a contest, and want to hone your writing skills. Be aware of sentence structure...meaning beginnings and endings.
1. a Labrador, they were as big as the palm of my hand (the word 'they' should begin a new sentence.
2. While the other dogs rushed ahead. (This is not a complete sentence. You should place a comma after 'ahead' and continue the sentence with Copper took his time and stopped to smell...)
3. He wasn't slow by any means, (The sentence ends with the word 'means.' In between points of interest...begins a new sentence.

I hope these 3 examples explain what I mean by sentence structure. I love your story and the subject is creative. Also, Cooper is adorable. Best wishes in the contest.

What a wonderful story for this contest, good luck. You have written a great tribute to Copper and an endorsement for others to consider adopting an older animal. The love and joy you both felt comes through in this story. Well-done.

What a sweet story. I enjoyed reading your contest entry. I'm so happy Copper was able to live his last years with you, your hubby, and other dogs. He sounded like he was so happy and deservedly so. You did a great job with your entry. The picture is adorable.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan
