I'm sorry for your loss. Watching a loved one slip away is so very hard. I'm a hospice nurse and I'm always asked, in the final stages, "What do we do now?" I always tell my families the best thing they can do in that moment is to just be with their loved one. Be present, talk to them, touch them, let them know that you're there with them. It's comforting to them as they pass on and it's a memory you will always have to look back on and cherish. Thank you for sharing your story. It's a beautiful example of why blood donation is vitally important and I hope it encourages more people to donate life.

Thanks Shelly. Yes blood donation is vitally important. Up here in Canada we have a well established an organised donation system so folks in need can get the blood they vitally need.
Thank you very much for reading and reviewing

Ciao!

This was a very emotional read .. it must have been devastating to know that your mother's battle against blood cancer had reached the end.

I'm glad you got the opportunity to be with her

have time to tell her how much you loved her .. hold her hand .

Her anniversary is coming up soon .. keep strong ..one never gets over the passing of a parent.

My mother passed away suddenly on Dec21st 2006.

We had had a spat over nothing 4 days prior ..never made up .. ( sigh)

I wish I could tell her :I love you.

Ciao!

I listen to this when waves of my grieving for my mother arise. It also came on the radio a few days before my former partner passed. I knew she was going to move on when I heard it. She'd had a botched brain surgery and things only got worse. Thank you for this. Here is the link for Sting singing Let Your Soul Be Your Pilot

I enjoyed reading your blood type story. You expressed a great deal of creativity and imagination within your writing. This story is engaging and relatable on many levels. I found myself drawn in and wanting to learn what would occur next. You truly have a gift and a way with words.

Poignant and powerful. Wonderful to be O- the universal donor. Stunning piece.

Yes it's nice to be the universal donor. I give as often as I can, every 8 weeks.
Thanks for reviewing and for catching the spelling error.
