Hi, I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to comment or not. I certainly haven't had the unpleasant experience that you describe and that countless ladies in this country go through. I don't know who first patented the machine, but I agree, it should be improved to make it less traumatic for the user. It seems like an X-ray could go through a cloth of some sort on the shelf and certainly there must be a better way to get a picture of the breast. Maybe a smaller version of a CT scan or some such thing. My wife has complained about the procedure for years. Perhaps your complaint will be seen by someone who will care enough and has the ability to come up with a better system. Sorry I can't help.

Wow, as a woman I can certainly relate to this story. I absolutely hate those damn mammograms. I think I'm about due for one too. ( groan ) I'm 75 years old so have been through it many times. I find it worse than the dreaded pelvic exam. This is most well-written and I enjoyed reading it and knowing someone else feels the same as I do. Great job
