Liz,

Oh. Okay. Well, that would help instill a great deal of confidence. Please pick me. I want to be the very first one across that bridge. Ummm.. oh, wait. No. I don't, actually. Funny stuff!

Thanks!

Thanks for stopping by! This story is true, except for the punchline. The supervisor is presumably not an engineer--he'd have flunked! The bridge was installed last weekend.

I just can imagine all the many stories Scott and you will share before this epic adventure is finally through. You seem to be able to take one slight digression and turn it into a delightful story.

Hugs, Carol

Loved this I can almost feel the frustration of the man doing the sketching
having his figures corrected rightly or wrongly only comment, shouldn't Math be plural Maths? Kooky.

Maths in used in UK--in US we say math.

So funny--or not--that many of our writers on "both sides of the pond" have been marked down for such "errors." I prefer certain British spellings--such as whilst vs while--luckily, my editor lets me use it!

Yes, I do math, but I'm sure I can even count that high would have been a good reply. I'm sure you will have many stories about Scott and the bridge before it's finished. Thanks for sharing.

This is so funny, Liz! I think Scott could be the engineer, if this guy really can't convert the weights to come up with the answer to Scott's question. Maybe he was just having a stressful day. lol That happens to me sometimes, like today when I've been trying to convert a US recipe to Canadian metric.

Hello Liz.

Your hundred word flash is well written. Of course, the successful flash story ends with a great closing line, which you have accomplished. I stopped doing the math in 2015 when I retired.

I read this yesterday but just couldn't type a response. My will just wasn't there any longer. I ended up talking something for pain and putting ice on it. I think I'd done too much rehab. I did enjoy reading.

Scott sounds exactly like my husband would under the circumstances .he has an irritating habit of proving me wrong by doing the maths (sorry brit English).
It is an awesome thought .A bridge weighing 300000 pounds being assembled and hoisted in place.

While I can sympathize with the project supervisor since math isn't my forte' either, I think he might be in the wrong business if he hasn't sort out that particular problem by that point. Scott is on the ball as usual. I enjoyed this.

Oh Liz...

I really want to meet your Scott fella...he sounds irritatingly fun! Poor sketching guy...the bridge weighs 300,000 pounds or 150 tons lol...is that right? Better check with Scott. Quite a feat for a machine to lift a 20,000,000 pound bridge...gasp* even if it IS a SPMT!

Well, you have written an accompanying winner to your last post, Liz...do you mind me shortening your name to Liz? Is not, please tell me. I love the bridge incidents a lot. I am envious of your ability to whip out a story completely intact, brief and funny as h-ll. :))

All the best to you,
Senyai

LIZ is fine! Most people call me LIZ--I'm happy with either version.

Oh ok. Liz is shorter to write, so lazy me will call you Liz.

Yay! Bridge is up? open to the public yet? I would hope it isn?t?probably needs to be tweaked here and there?
