This is very touching, poignant. The repetition is a great device and it is used well to set off each statement after. I particularly like the final stanza. Fading and returning make a stunning visual. It speaks of beginnings and endings and cycles of grief and healing. Lilies symbolize resurrection and rejuvenation. They are often associated with hope. I'm not certain of the context Virgil meant for them. A truly lovely poem. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it and I?m glad it came out well. I don?t expect to win it (not much of a poet), but I thought it might be fun to do a contest. I hope you take care and have a wonderful day (or night) when you get this.

I can easily visualize the grieving Speaker who needs something to clutch in her hands that will both clear her mind and help her recall the deceased. The lilies are a splendid motif in this poignant poem.
