How cute this poem (story) is. Very enjoyable reading. I like that the kids all had the thought to share their trick-or-treat candy with him and to find it delightful that it was him who was the elf who charged the toll of one piece of candy. A sweet story for Halloween! Good luck with the contest.

I like this clever ending. I like the fact that he was able to participate in his own special way, and I also like that the children were sensitive enough to want to go to his house to share their treats with him. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Hello anon, this is such a sweet poem about the generosity those children displayed when they remembered the young boy who, being disabled, could not go treat-or-treating. Lovely surprise ending of a well written poem, good abcb rhyme maintained throughout and a good read. Good luck in the contest. Regards Dorothy x

Good picture to reflect October...

I love the story. You tell a good story about the Halloween street and the crippled friend.

It is a poem to show love and caring, yet having fun too. The children have a good time and they are willing to share their joy.

Thanks for sharing such a lovely story.

This is a cute and fun poem for children. I enjoyed your descriptions and the atmosphere you created with your words. The tale was spooky, yet not overtly scary, which is perfect for the little ones. You expressed the scenario very well. the unexpected twist at the end was a nice touch. Great job!

Thanks for the review. The hard part was not making it too scary for the children.

This is a special Halloween story because the ending reveals good will and a caring heart for someone who cannot live the same way as other children. I enjoyed reading this very much. Best wishes in the contest!

Very cute and very well-written poem. The rhythm is perfect. I truly enjoyed the read and the end was excellent that the boy was the elf.
Good luck in the contest.
This should be a contender.

I wish I had a six for it. This is magnificent. To read a poem in a perfect rhyme and meter is always a treat. This stood out in that regard.

Excellent imagery, visuals and your array of different characters are quite delightful.

This is so fun:

Now, at the corner of this street
There was a scary beast,
And little kids all thought that he
Was eight feet tall, at least.

This poem is good for kids 5 to 90 (smile).

Glad to have a sixer left for this sweet little bit of fun. I think I like the light-hearted side of Halloween more than the gruesome ghosts and ghouls.

Good rhyme and rhythm carry this tale along and the ending ius a knockout!
