Yes, animals become part of our family and a very important, special part of our life. My father sadly for us, felt more for his dogs than he ever did people. A well written poem with great rhyming and imagery. All the best Frank

Thank you for your kind words. Sorry about your dad.

Superb description of 'man's best friend.'
I love how the poem flows so naturally as the poet describes the reactions of his best friend.
Mine is currently curled up in his basket alongside me.
Excellent rhythm and rhyme.
Warmly,
Juliette

Thanks Juliette for your kind words and rating. Nothing like 'man's best friend'.

I enjoyed reading this - What makes me happy - contest entry.
It is lighthearted and teasers the reader with hints of what it
is not and what it is. A different take that adds to the fun of
this read.
Just a couple of suggestions, in ( ) if I may.
It doesn't rot teeth,
But (like)s to lick,
Loves to play,
With balls and stick.
It gives me pleasure,
(Each minute of) time,
Not just a mouthful,
A moment sublime.
The sweetest thing,
Is not chocolate log,
But I think we all know,
It is (my) humble dog.
Thank you for sharing and best of luck in the competition.

Hi and thanks for your constructive suggestions, I shall take them on board. Not sure about (each minute of time) but agree can/should be tweaked. Will have a think. Thanks again.
