Well, I agree most with the last two lines - "feeling the Grace of God deep within my soul" has to rank way up there in the happiness scale. But I'm not sure about being the only one spared the flu!

Well deserved and most welcome.

I love how you thought this one out. Your poem feels different from others in that you have expressed specific blessings of everyday life as they directly relate to you. Some lines had me laughing, some amused, some 'oh yeah'.
That last stanza was pure perfection. Maybe because that's where my heart is too.
You did good!

Thanks, Gale. Hopefully your list of happy things is long.

It is indeed. Truly :) Even in the most trying of times, I recognize God's care and the beauty all around me.
You had my vote for this wonderful creation.

This poem is superb. It's the perfect list of things that we've all experienced, like the boss saying "Job well done," or the dentist, and hurricanes that go out to sea. But the last stanza carries the deepest message, "When I can feel the Grace of God Way down deep in my soul."
Best wishes in the contest.

-Good artwork and
a poem to go with it.
-Effective imagery, rhyme,
and meter create a smooth
flow of ideas.
-You have many good examples
of what makes you happy from
small things to larger ones.
-The dentist is always a
big one if you have to
get more serious work,
but otherwise, it is a good outcome.
-I like the one about "directions
you can understand!"
-The last two verses are
very good, and show your
care and concern for others.
-A very good entry; good luck!

This is very nice list. You have some very tender moments here and some funny ones too. I think you did a great job with alternate rhyme scheme and then you stuck the landing with feeling Log deep down in you soul.
A very strong entry.

Thanks, Hitch. I'm retired, so the raises are gone.

Hello Mystery Man.
I enjoyed the positive message and excellent rhyme scheme in your poem. We live in times when people expect to be miserable. I appreciate your message of not being miserable. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks, Robert. One of the reasons that I am not miserable is that I live in rural Maine. I stay here, close to home, as much as I can.

This is beautifully written and offers some wonderful examples of uplifting situations that help induce happiness. It is easy for many readers to relate to and a smile producer for sure!
