Wow, Brett, I didn't expect that ending. So the son took his own life as he couldn't face to be without the one parent he'd ever had. What a tragedy that was. I really liked it. Well written, and good luck. Ulla:)))

This family story was of a life that turned out to not have such a happy ending. The narrator has gone to his grave as we learn in the last sentence. Apparently he took his own life not wanting to deal with cancer. The Jacket that once belonged to football player father was claimed by the son who now hopes the family secrets can rest in peace. Well written.

Actually, the narrator died from cancer and Tyler, now alone in the world without his sole parent, and having been abandoned by his mother when he was 2 months old, commits suicide. Glad you enjoyed the twisted tale. Appreciate the review.

Wow. Gut wrenching ending. Not expected either. You crafted your story with skill and care, not hinting at what was to come. I hope it really is fiction. I wish you every success in the contest.

Wow. I read all the entries. Lot's of good writing. This one packed an emotional punch that has me reeling. Worthy of six stars...can I owe you one? I'm short this week! Tell you what though? Your writing rocked me to my core. I have but one vote to cast for this contest. It's yours...

This family story, Jacket, is a sad tale of a dysfunctional family, destroyed by a wandering woman, and ending with a painful death and a suicide. Coiuldn't get much bleaker.

Wow! This gives me pause, Brett. It's hard to put into words how it makes me feel. At first loving the sweet memories, then feeling the sadness of love lost and abandonment, but the ending takes my breath away. It's a very powerful family story. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

The cycle of life is filled with many ups and downs. The circle that swings to many extremes. When things are bad, they usually get better. When they are good, they are destined to turn south. Thanks for sharing.

Well here I am reading your creative work, and you narrative work, imaginary in a manner that is not based on fact.
Yes, I found your family event of you laying I in front of this marble tombstone. And you Staring up at the brown dirt covering you and hearing a gunshot.

Ouch!!!!!!!! I enjoyed reading your contest entry and loved it. You told a complete story using only a few words. You have characters, setting, plot, problem, and solution. I'm not to happy with the solution. Good luck with the contest.

Dang, that story didn't go where I thought it was going. Totally took me by surprise, which makes it good. It's a sad story, though, but that might just be me. Our 21 year old granddaughter attempted suicide last night.
You really have written an excellent piece of fiction.
