This story is certainly in the right category. The words fit the subject. The story flows well. The ending has a twist. The images are disturbing, as they should be.

EEee-yew. Deliciously disgusting. You threw me at first when you said "Neil died in his sleep". My first thought, as you probably contrived, was how did he get up? Was he a vampire? Pretty cool making him a zombie. Was Neil tired of being undead? How could he die in his sleep if he's undead? Poor grandma? Good story. Best of luck in the contest.
