Omg! I love this...My, you have such a way with words. The carefully chosen words in your 5-7-5 are marvelous. The brevity of it demands the 17 syllables be descriptive in every way. Yours are and then some. The mental picture I got instantly sweep over me and memories of the past bubbled to the surface, trekking with kids in tow going picnicking at the lake...
We actually had a wood paneled station wagon, a Plymouth Volare ...and we down shifted all the way down the road to the lake, if you can believe it. But I didn't own any moccasins...hahaha!
Congratulation on your win, too. Such a perfect poem. Amazing.
Did you get a chance to look into Writers Digest website for poetry submission info?
In my opinion, you have definitely got "it". Just finding contests and poetry markets to submit to. There is also a site called 'Medium' that some FanStory writers use also. They post their work there after creating a profile. Another way to get their work out there.

I enjoyed you poem for its glimpse of a retro vacation. I remember those slip-on comfortable shoes and the trim on those station wagons. Downshift evokes a manual gear change, or just a change of scene.
