Well, you speak my mind when you write of the times that we who are not young live in. I, too, like poetry that rhymes, although I can enjoy other kinds as well. I liked the pragmatism of your writing.

Yes, I know what you mean. I'm nowhere near as old as you are, byt I also get ignored. And I do the very same thing, and I pick up my pen and write. Now, I seem to be ignored here, as well. You can't win can you? Never mind. Ulla:)))

Yes, the young ones do sometimes disregard the senior citizens in and out of their families. This poem tells a good way to live.
