I thought I'd pop in see and which poem is teetering on the edge of being recognised and I found this shadorma ekphrastic poem. So worthy of a ribbon. The story within the poem is haunting and grips the reader with the silence that falls with trepidation after each sentence. Excellent write.

This described fearful anticipation as the cup of coffee is somehow compensation for the bad news waiting to be delivered, or maybe this peaceful moment will soon become chaos for this person, a poignant write, love Dolly x

I read a book some time ago with famous paintings and poetry that interpret what the writer saw in them. I've been in love with that time of poetry every since. So thank you for crafting one and informing me that it has a name.

Dear Gypsy,
I enjoyed this because it built up and left three or wondering where did he go, what is the bad news today is going to get it, what kind of coffee was he drinking, when will he return?
The picture matches perfectly, and the flow is impeccable.
Read aloud, it sounds well balanced***
Blessings,
Brother Badger

and the chair
it's pulled out
waiting for him to get back --
before the bad news
You brilliantly capture that moment when a person knows not to expect any good news, or the return of the missing person. Sadness imposes itself, perhaps never to leave.

Gypsy Rose,
This is such an awesome poem. You utilized the photo well, and it is a poem that is not resolved in the end, and that is its charm.
Excellent work, Gypsy Rose.
Good luck in all that you do.
Blessings,
Cindy

Shadorna.
Based on the subject of coffee.
We all drink it to an extent some Like It Black some Like It sugary sweet with cream.
(If you know what I mean?)
Being a Latter-Day Saint with the Church of Jesus Christ we are forbidden from any caffeine and consumption any degree.
But I partake in coffee to a limited degree.
Well written and good luck with this!

This is really wonderful. It certainly paints a picture and creates a mood.
Very striking imagery and effect.
This looks challenging but I might give it a try.
Beautiful!

Gypsy - great work here. A brief poem that certainly speaks to a larger, darker narrative. I like the imagery you're working with and your author notes on the shadorma. I was not familiar with this type of poetry before this post. This was a great introduction - I'll have to give it a try sometime. Thanks for sharing.

great job in creating suspense. The reader can let their imagination run free. A good example of what a single word can do to change things. If "bad" was left out, the poem would convey a very different feeling.
