Congratulations. To me this is the epitome of good writing. The ability to take something as ordinary as owning and driving various trucks throughout your life and making it seem fun and exciting requires talent that you displayed very well. The fact that it rhymes and rhymes very well is an unexpected bonus. Well done

This made me chuckle. It reminded me of a line an acquaintance once said when asked why he no longer owned a motorcycle. "It was my bike or my first wife. I should have kept the bike." Enjoyed this.

I enjoyed reading your contest entry. Are you any chance related to my husband. He won't part with his pick-up truck, and it's a Ford Ranger. He refuses to buy one of the newer pick-ups, they're not as sturdy. Oh my!!! Good luck with the contest.

How could I not read about the guy's love of his truck? My husband has passed and his last truck sits next to my car...people tell me to sell it, but I really can't. It's too full of memories of our drives. He had many, from semi to van, SUV and pickup... but this one was ours - the last trip, the last auction, the last ear of corn... I too love the truck! Smiles, Carol

This Ode to a Pickup stands as a bit of proof that the author likes those pickup trucks. The meter and rhyme scheme are a bit dicey on this work, but the love and need of that truck comes through.
