This is well written and well presented. I enjoyed the picture as well as the poem. Well done. it is also very tragic and sad and you do a god job gaining the sympathy of your readers.

Oh how very sad! And, oh how so very well written. An excellent use of your 100 words. It is a complete story and paints a very detailed picture. Poor puppy!

Thank you for your comments and review. I hope that The poor puppy barks loud enough so that someone hears him soon. Hugs.

Hmm, this is a very interesting story, of a dog left locked in a shed and its owner having died. Yes, the dog is indeed a prisoner (sort of) and the reader can understand its suffering. Not sure about the strangers coming to what I assume is a wake. Why would it be at John's house if he is dead? And if there is someone else, they would know about the dog.

Maybe I'm over thinking it. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much for your comments and review. The backstory is that John lives alone and his children all live out of town, so the wake is at his house, run by his adult children. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-) Hugs.

This is a very creative and suspenseful story up until the end, where it turns sad, all within a few words. The artwork pairs perfectly with the story, making the reader wish they could go to that shed and let the dog out. Well done. Best wishes in the contest.

Oh what a heartbreaking story! That poor dog, missing John, and now - unless he starts barking - might starve to death.
You've shown skill in setting the scene from the dog's point of view and emotional depth with suspense and drama.

Poor little critter locked in a shed and his owner has passed away. Surely someone will search for him and save him from the miserable death. A very nice entry for the contest. Best of luck!

I am hoping that he isn't too weak to bark and get someone's attention. Thank you for your comments and review. Hugs.

This story is very moving, and very powerfully written. The viewpoint of the pet is very well done, and then the climax in the last sentence is unsaid, but implicit. Then we are left wondering ... will he be found in time? This to me is a winner, so best wishes!

I sure hope this abandoned dog knew how to bark. Maybe have the story end with the dog's soulful yowl of distress. I had to reread the first paragraph to get the gist, not sure you need the suspense of waiting but I like the story very much

Very well done! You've thought outside the box and it works beautifully. So sad that John won't be coming back. And what will happen to "him"? I don't know if these word prompts are a competition or not. If so, good luck.
