You really earned your second place tie with this one. It is so true. I've had to live with similar situations before, when my husband has been immobile, and it is no fun. Fortunately, I have good friends and neighbors. We just got a call that the local Rite-Aid in our small town has the J&J vaccine and we can get the "one and done." Our circumstances made the logistics of earlier vaccines too difficult.

Hi Susan, for some reason the reply didn't go through. In any event, thanks for your kind words. I used a picture of my mother-in -law for for this story. She was such a gem. I felt so blessed to have her and she's still blessing me even after her passing.

Wow, Tom!

What a strong entry for this prompt! Wait...maybe this is blind.
Gee...Such a powerful entry and I'm just today - to early - plum
out of 6's.

"The main stream news media has been complicit in spreading the fear and unrest that is gripping this country and the rest of the world. We don't need more government intervention, we need for people to return to the biblical principals that kept this nation prosperous in the past. Love your neighbor as yourself. What a different world it would be."

YUP!!!

Fantastic write...pulls on the heartstrings and holds the truth in every word and breath.

Anna

    Hello Anna Linda,
I can never keep track of what is a blind entry and what isn't. Thanks so much for the generous review.

It is a ad situation that many have been forced to adopt. Your contest entry describes it well, Mystery Author. Hopefully, any in the same situation could have some groceries delivered or friends could drop some off. You are right. She is a prisoner. Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you Jan. While this was a little extreme, I'm reminded of the folks in the nursing homes that couldn't have visitors, what a tragedy.

A message well conveyed regarding the isolation and prison-like atmosphere that has developed during the pandemic. This short story complies effectively with the writing prompt requirements. Well said.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

After reading your 100-word writing it is easy to understand the loneliness and fear that can be felt for us all, that were born and grown in a different society.. The most important thing that (I guess) we have lost in this pandemic is the ownership of our time and our decisions. We are locked in invisible doors and chains.. BUT we still have HOPE! We have to make an effort but it is still there waiting for us to knock at that door...

Thanks for sharing your poetry! And we can change it! (Please read my one line poem: INFECTIOUS! And leave your comment... Thanks in advance!!!). Have a great time ahead!
