What a beautiful poem.A free verse ,it flows so beautifully that I didnt realise it is a free verse ..The lines went so smoothly with a rhythm .I loved particularly the third stanza where you brought the Robin's evensong....

I found this poem to be very touching and sweet, the words flowed and didn't seem to be forced in any way as can sometimes happen. I felt as if these events actually happened and that gave extra meaning and depth.

Ah, there is no GPS for poetry, is there. We start down a path and wander. Yours is a comfy wander in a Spring mood. I have felt much the same as the Springs first buds and leaves are claiming victory over a brutal winter!

Excellent blank verse, Janet. Of course rhyming isn't a problem until it isn't supposed to be done, and you have with great aplomb achieved that goal of the blank verse.
Your iambic metre is pristine, the overall motif, one of spring, and the longing that arrives with the chirping birds and the warmer sun.

Yes, the final stanza at first sight seems to be disconnected but it is in fact linked, as the previous stanza mentions evensong, and there is a link with memories in the first two stanzas - when he was with you. It is a lovely poem, and well written.
