You have described the surreal situation that is happening at present perfectly. The sheer hopelessness of it all. What more can I say. Best wishes. Jen.

The author's words are engaging, sad, descriptive, and creative. Life is not the same and no matter how hard we try to get back to the way it was - it just is not happening! The author's words convey a reality that is! The poem flows and connects well. I liked the honesty stated in this poem.

Thank you, I'm pretty new here and devouring a lot of poetry. I enjoyed this, and look forward to more stuff.

What is an ek poet by the way? I've never heard the term.

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad the poem captured this sense of the epidemic in our lives. I wanted to create a feeling of the mechanics of our world ironically going on without us being in it. estory

This is an excellent piece of writing describing the new way of living in our pandemic ages. Certainly it is lonely to be shutdown at home. Although home is a sweet home, yet not able to go out safely is depressing.

Good writing and thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the excellent review and for the wonderful words of support for this piece. I am glad it captured something of the lonliness and the hopelessness we feel in this thing from time to time. We are social creatures and to not be able to interact is maddening estory

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your comments and perspective on the piece. we're all here riding out this storm, each in our little room, watching the traffic light going on through their sequences without any traffic. estory

I think we forgot how to be normal, and I really wonder if we will be able to go back to what it used to be or this is the new normal: "There is no more shaking of hands. No more in person
interviews. No spectators at the ball games or patrons
in the dining rooms or mourners at the funerals
or colleagues having lunch together in a park or talking
over coffee in the coffee bars." Thank you for sharing and let's hope for better days.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for the mention of the specific lines that seem to have hit home for you. I wanted to capture something of that feeling of a lost life, the moments that we used to love and relish, lost to us. estory

Estory,

Your well written documentory poem certainly does depict all of what you have stated in your notes:

"These images of a humanity separated from each other, connecting only through machines, and the empty buildings and streets left to the automated sequences of the traffic lights, ironic symbols of the meaning of machines, without human beings. Yet in many ways, they are the future while we are the victims in this stage of progress. I wanted to create a sense of helplessness here, of humanity caught in a situation out of its control, that is sapping the humanity from it"

Yes, the "internet of things" set in the hive...surveilance and distancy from our fellow human beings. "Alone together" is a perfect entry for
your timely piece.

"A silence that is never ending and a distance that cannot be
crossed"

This is a very important document of history.

Anna

You did an excellent job of portraying the helplessness we have felt throughout this pandemic. Here where I live, only the caregivers still drive to take care of us and come to our apartments and serve as companions as well as other needs so important for us to stay in our homes. Thank you for putting it so well the crucial loneliness and isolation we feel. Many families have been isolated from each other as well. It has affected every one of us in one way or another.
