so glad that she is talking about her life....probably she can feel better about certain situations if she speaks about her life with her late husband...as they say, keeping things bottled up is not good either.

Hello Barbara - Seems as if your characters what to know (and your readers too) more about each other, but they tippy-toe back and forth - (teasing the reader as well). It's a pleasant scene of family and possible relationships in the making. Very enjoyable! As for Texas - take care. It really looks bad. Sip one of those Margaritas and write - far more enjoyable! Smiles!

A cliff-hanger! Can't wait till she spills the beans. Touching and intense!

"[They=>I] do, but I can follow directions."

As soon as the words were heard, Gabriel gulped.
Sugg: When Gabriel heard the words, he flinched.

One sentence ended with cooking skills lacked. When I read it I asked myself lacked what. It might flow smoother if the wording was lacked cooking skills. This is another good installment.

Well, well, now it's about time they start sharing a little personal information, so that this romance can pick up steam and get to the mushy stuff. LOL. Just teasing. Thanks for sharing.

-I was just getting into the story, Barb,
and it ended. I was waiting to read
about George!
-This was a good family gathering,
and the relationship between Gabriel
and Katherine is progressing.
-I liked how they showed concern
for one another, and the scene
with the game was good, too.
-It will be interesting to learn
about George, although I don't
think Katherine is thrilled about
the prospect of talking about it.

That is cold!!!! It is 38 right now in NJ. That is the highest we've been in a number of weeks. I think you are right about Mother Nature!

Sounds like a fun family with clean thoughts, families like that are hard to find now days. Sorry I have been away from your story but I picked up real easy.
I know your style and it is easy.
Thanks for sharing. Good one Barb.

Your gentle story continues in its informal natural style with glimpses into their various lives. The characters, like most of us, "put their foot in it" at times, and so are realistic. Keep writing!

Okay, they've both seemed to have broken through the ice, Gabriel seems willing to talk about his past, but she won't let him. Doesn't she know the reader wants to know? And now, Katherine's about to open up. Although you'll have a few surprises ahead, I'm sure, let the romance begin.

I promise all of these questions will be answers in good time. I am doing it slowly. Thank you for the kind review.

Oh, I wouldn't speed you up for the world. I was responding to the characters as though they cared a fig for what I had to say, LOL. I have 100 percent faith in your narrative timing.

I love the natural way your are allowing this relationship to develop. Of importance to me is the fact that the two adults are showing a readiness to let go of the past, to accept blame for past mistakes without being bogged down with feelings of excessive guilt and regret. I foresee a very strong relationship with this couple that is not even a couple yet.
