Excellent dialog between you and the house plant. The house plant is quite the character as your Mom and is a great way to communicate with your Mom. Plants bring joy and nature into our lives. Best wishes for this unique contest.

I Love this. Very nicely written story sounds like a mom and that's what moms are usually saying to their children. They encourage their children or on their case to do things in the meantime sometimes they needed to take their own advice and take care of themselves. I lost my mom
A year ago and miss her so much. I enjoyed reading your story.

I'm sorry Greyson. I'll try to remember. One of these days your books will be on all the best lists while some of us who are older will still be trying to spell your name right.

What a clever and imaginative way of "staying in touch" with your mother and caring for a houseplant. And "hearing" what your mother would say speaks of a great relationship with her. I loved this.

Someone told me they loved it, but they would like to see my mother be a little meaner about it. My mom always tried to be helpful with her many suggestions. She was never mean but she did irritate me sometimes by always knowing what I needed to do.

I just love this. I like the fact that you don't know where the plant came from. The only suggestion I would make would be to make Mom a little testier - more critical rather than helpful. But maybe that's just me and my Mom.

Thank you so much for the review and comment. I'm so glad you liked it. Mom tired to pretend she was just trying to be helpful but it irritated me anyway because I saw it as she was being critical. I could never quite please her. LOL

Oh I love it! What a great story, and I'm not sure if it's true, but I could totally see it being so. Very creative and well written. Your plant has said things that my mom says to me! Well done. Hugs and blessings.

Thank you so much for the review and tor the great comments. I is true in the sense that I have a Peace LIly like this since my Mom's funeral in 1995. Every time it starts to droop like this one I think of her and all the things she would say to me about letting things go when she was alive.

I really enjoyed your writings, Beth. Our thoughts often need a place to focus and your plant definitely fits the scenario for Mom. I loved the humor entwined with the dying plant. WEll done!

Thank you for that. I apprecate ;you seeing the humor. Mom wasn't that bad but would probably say some of those things.

I like the way the plant talked to you as if it were your mom, Beth. You and she had an interesting, and truthful, conversation. Your approach to the contest was unique, and you did a great job with your entry. Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

It sounds like my mother is living in your plant. In your defense, those Peace Lilies are hard to keep alive. What a wonderfully written story.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. Actually i've had one twenty-five years. It you give them water regularly you can't kill them. They look like their dead every few days. LOL I hope you vote.

Almost anyone whose had a mother, or who has been a mother can relate to this story! Love it! Thanks for turning something as simple (and essential) as a houseplant into an example of how all living things are related. As it happens, I have a ten year old plant that once belonged to a co-worker, who passed, unexpectedly, at a young age which made relating to My Link With The Great Beyond even more relevant for me. Wishing you happy writing.
