Wry humor re ill-humor--Sad to say, I can relate, albeit with less wit. Chek out new member Vanessa Newman--you two were separated at birth!

Oh, Zee, as usual, I love your writing and this is no exception. It's been a beast of a year, and, if you must know, I blame it on Covid. What a heck of a thing to hit us all! Fortunately I have never suffered from depression or melancholy (I love that one by the way.) Funny enough I bought myself a Nespresso machine in late May, and it spits out some wonderful latte. My brother and his family, in MA, and I have become very close this year. We only found each other 12 years ago (I was adopted. We share the same father) but the covid has worked wonders. We speak on skype once a week since all this started. So it has not been all bad. Sorry I'm rambling on. Looking forward to your next piece of writing. Ulla:)))

Honesty and everyday living can be brutal and of course, 2020 worked on perfecting it. Since it's New Year's Day and I, personally, was attempting to be upbeat and in forward gear, the beginning was quite depressing (but absolutely truthful for most of us). Thankfully, as a true writer should do, you added humor and a twist of surprise making the reader enjoy the piece and chuckle at the end. Well done! Wishing you a Happy New Year and best of luck with your writing. Until we meet again.... Smiles and best wishes.

...and Happy New Year to you, too (and I mean it).

I enjoyed your story, and glad to hear you found something to place a smile on your face. These days, we have to search for something or someone who make us smile.

The paragraph below gave me a chuckle. It's relatable. What happened to actually speaking with an actual person these days?

I call my doctor and listen to 4 minutes of "Listen to our new menu. 1. If you are bleeding, dial 911...etc," Finally someone answers the phone. She sounds as if she has been crying. I want to feel sorry for her, but I'm too busy feeling sorry for myself. She puts Doctor on the phone.

Thank you for sharing.
