Congrats on your win for this charming and clever story. Brilliant solution to Santa's quandary! You skillfully tied in all the restrictions that have ensued from Corona. Cheers. LIZ

Well, I guess we never think how the pandemic effects Santa and the elves.
I think Santa has a good idea. The Easter Bunny does know where the kids are and with the elves' magic they can make sure his helpers will be able to make the toys. Christmasis saved.
This is a good and imaginative story well deserving of the win. Congrats.
Hope you had a Merr Christmas and have a Happy New Year.

Bob,

Only. You.

hahaha What a brilliant idea. Of COURSE he should call on a neighborly holiday magic elf of some sort. This was really fun and the only thing I noticed that could be a nit is that in one place you capped 'Boss' and in another you left it lower case. (Each time with Cheerful speaking).

Thanks for the smile!

Brilliant, Snod. Blend a little Easter in there and get those bunnies working. Lol! I loved it. I still love your narrative voice, big fella. Hope you're still enjoying yourself in Portugal. I spent one Christmas in Portugal, in Portimoa, in the Algarve. My late husband was alive and well then and it was the most romantic place imaginable. I envy you the temperate climate. I'm freezing my buns in Canada, wearing masks and trying to keep Covid at bay. You're still my favorite fanstory writer. Still can't resist anything you write. Good luck in the contest!

Thanks. In fact, the Portuguese version of this I wrote has won a local competition. I'm dead chuffed, especially as there were native speakers in the competition. Covid restrictions are in place here, and we have to wear our masks outside the home, but hopefully as a vulnerable person I'll get the vaccine soon.
As for the weather, when the sun shines it's not too bad and the daytime temperature is just in double figures, though it's rained a lot recently. I'm a long way from the Algarve, which we think of as Little Britain - very touristy, but for romantic you'd be hard pushed to beat the forested hills and lakes I can see from my window.

Thanks as ever for the review and generous score. May your toes be unfroze this Christmas

You wrote it in Portuguese for the local contest? I am so impressed! I knew you were sharp, Snod, but I didn't think you were a bloody genius! But it's true that it's what you have to say, along with how you say it. I translate from English to French now and again. I think the same way, but I have to twist my memory onto old byways to get it said. I think it makes me original since I don't know the old idioms. Fun stuff! Glad you're still enjoying yourself, smart guy!

Ah the fogging glasses. I recognise this problem. And this wasn't the only piece of realism you injected into this lovely Christmas story that had me chuckling all the way through. It was so real too, I only had one problem with it.

And that was?

The Easter Bunny. Everyone knows the Easter Bunny isn't really real - not like Santa Claus and his elves.

Brilliant.

The tooth fairy assured me the Easter bunny is very real. Glad you liked the story and thank you for the generous score

I thought that this story was cute and clever with many original touches. The idea of dolls with faces painted on the backs of their heads was quite humorous, and I love that Santa sought help from the Easter Bunny.
