I liked the spacing on this poem because it slowed down my reading, and therefore, my emotional response. I liked your expression of love, much better than Roses are red...
I am sorry for your loss.

Hi Nancy, thank you for this lovely review. It's not a loss I suffered, just what I saw and felt from the picture. I have written a love letter posthumously from my Aunt who died from cancer, to her husband. He loved it.
    Again, thank you :)

This is a well-written poem. It shows passion, memories, and sadness. You chose a great picture to pair with it, a woman thoughtfully looking out the window with words scribed across the picture. I do think that the amount of spacing is a little much, just my opinion. A lovely poem overall!

Thank you for the crit and review. I struggled with the spacing as I have been away from the site for some time, but I will do my best to remedy that in future posts. :)

Hi sug, it's great to be back but oh how I struggled to get this posted. The spacing and every time I saved I would see those stupid "A's" everywhere and have to edit. lol
A special Thanks for the bling of the 6.

    You're a blessing

Hi
This is a good poem and so very poignant in today's world where so many are loosing their loved ones.
That a letter may be the only thing left to hold, for we can not go to the hospital, or even a funeral.

I think the core of a love letter is quite simple. We want to be appreciated and loved. Simple words will go a long way. Your poem says it all. Such love letters need to preserved and cherished. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Welcome back, Missy. Your writing is still outstanding.

Because your Description line says this post was prompted by the picture, and the text does indeed fit, I'll review it accordingly.

Women are more likely than men to keep love letters, especially when a relationship either already existed or grew from the letters exchanged (though I still have all the letters my late wife and I sent during our courtship many decades ago).

The picture seems to represent a woman sadly reminiscing about love letters sent to her either during courtship and/or a relationship with a man who has passed on. The sadness and anguish are the same, whether they had separated and she just learned of his demise, or he had gone to defend his country and not returned alive, or he had simply died from illness or some mishap. Her resultant thoughts amount to a mental love letter to him, expressing her fond memories of their time together. She may or may not write down these thoughts as a physical remembrance; but, if so, she may slip it into his casket before burial if she has such opportunity. If his soul has lingered until then, he would be comforted by her words, for they show her love for him remains as strong as ever.

You expressed it all superbly, and free verse was the right style for this.

You are most welcome, Missy. This post evokes strong emotions in readers who have experienced love and loss.

This year, offsite obligations plus fighting off the virus (fortunately with only minor symptoms) has reduced my reviewing to a few Six-worthy posts per week, and my posting to near zero. This likely will continue into 2021. Your post made the grade. :)) -- Mike

This lovely, descriptive poem represents nostalgia at it bittersweet best, for there was love, passion, and sweetness that linger in the heart and mind--now gone.

This is a wonderful love poem to place in the coffin of a loving spouse. It is so romantic that she has these letters and sends one with her husband/partner/wife so he has something to treasure until they meet again.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Merry Christmas

A very well-written poem about love letters from the past bringing back memories that are good or bad and unit we can decide if it is going to haunt us or if we going to let them go by.

Very heartwarming and descriptive :)

You did a fantastic job using the photo to describe what it said to you. I love how you let the artwork guide you to see what it meant in your eyes. This is definitely a unique gift.

Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed reading it.
Hugs,
Shana :)
