This tribute poem comes to a beautiful conclusion but never an end. A beautiful offering here today. It uplifted us all and especially those who know this area. It's very special. Sending you my best today as always

e,
Though I'm sure I missed some of this series, this one is a fabulous note to end a series on. I could see it all - for just a moment I stood atop that mountain with you. Thanks!

A wonderful free verse poem! And it made me think of how Petrarch spoke of that mountaintop experience because at the apex everything falls into perspective. Loved that you alluded to the Mount of Transfiguration and Golgotha
"in a white blaze of transfiguration,
reveals the glory of the resurrection."
I'm sure Roy was honored that you dedicated this one to him!

Estory, this is a lovely, lovely Elegy, worthy of the stature of Roy Owen here on FanStory. Your imagery is stunning. It is one of those poems I'd love to have in the spoken word so could close my eyes and let the freshness of the images wash over me. Thank you for sharing this important poem.

A very well-written poem about the mountains and how it can show us our insignificance when we look up to the mountains and nature where everything works like clockwork.

Well, I am glad that you enjoyed the poem, my friend. I thought you might enjoy it, it really is so much along the lines of many of the things you do in your own poetry. This was about an uplifting moment, of finding yourself in that chapel with the light of the Word lifting you up off the world and into the transfiguration of the Spirit. estory

Which is very wise when one is browbeaten by the thoughts and trials of scarred and fallen humanity,

Hello, estory,
Beautiful poem about congregation in the Appalachian mountains. The imagery is outstanding. The writing is clear and easy to understand. I have poems that are hard to understand. Well done. Roy will love it.

I really like the spirituality of this poem. It started with a mountain chapel that shaped like a boat, to the incense of spruce, and ended with wild Rhododendron. It reached the peak of spirituality with "resurrection".
I saw a chapel on a hill in Northern Iceland that is very much like a Noah's Ark. I have a picture and I should write a poem to it. Iceland is very unique and beautiful. I should do it.
I'm an atheist. Yet I still like the spirituality in this poem.
Exceptionally written.

I could easily envison this scene and loved the spiritual encounters within each stanza. For some reason in the first stanza, as I read it I kept feeling that the air should be clean and the water clear. I am sure that you felt strongly about it the other way, but in the mountains I feel that the air really is clean and the water clear and could only visualize it that way even though it was written the other way. It is a beautiful poem and I particularly liked the description of "incense of the Applachian spruce"
Great work!

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on the poem. I think clean air and clear water are kind of interchangeable. They really create the same sense of purity. estory

Your lovely poem provides the reader's imagination with a spiritual link between heaven and earth. Being in the mountains does that to me too. Your words and the imagery conveyed carry a feeling of peace, comfort, forgiveness, beauty. The wild rhododendron, its beauty bringing one close to God, supports the feeling of transfiguration and resurrection.
(That's a nice touch, to dedicate your poem to Roy.)
