Love it. Unlike your clever self, I tend to go down the extended rhyming trail with clumsy dum de dums and not so clumsy sonnets. This truly inspires me to revisit the 5/7/5 structure be it haiku or whatever. Thank you for sharing - DJ

DJ,
My wife is always asking me why my poems don?t rhyme. I tell her that I don?t go down that rabbit hole very often. Most of my posts are Haiku or the English version with exactly 5-7-5 syllables. Do appreciate your extra star!

Hey Mark. Banish your wife to the kitchen. Kidding. My daughter is my biggest critic. "Hey dad, the 'turn' on that last sonnet was total crap". She is always right. I'd still your wife in the kitchen. Cheers - DJ

Someone needs to keep you honest - your daughter is family; she can poke at you. LOL

DJ,
You and I are the same age and my Albany, NY home is almost 180 degrees from Albany in your neck of the woods, but not near ocean waters. . We are about 8 miles from the Hudson River, but we have myriad lakes in our nearby Adirondacks mountains region. So, I can became your ?cobber? now ?

Hello, Mark,
The story behind your poem is very interesting, I would incorporate it to the poem as a haibun. I like your poem...it has great imagery.

Gypsy,
I too liked the imagery I penned for this. It was in preview for a few days and with no contest to enter, I posted it anyway. I am very pleased with the positive reviews received for the same.

Thanks Dolly for your love and review. For sure, our belief in Jack Frost is more vivid in our childhood. As adults, our imagination is not that whimsical when we see the frost on our windows.
Stay safe during this virus lockdown.

Diane,
Jack and I thank you for those childhood memories when we believed in his etchings on our winter window panes. Now as adults, we often curse the ice on our car windows.
Thanks, as always, for your stars and review.

I love the way you have expressed this. Have many fond memories of times in my childhood, when we would enjoy the pictures that frost painted on our windows. That was before the time of central heating, don't see much of it today.

Anne,
Yes we did scratch away the frost from our inside glass windows. Even with good heating and double paned windows, occasionally Jack Frost leaves his mark, especially in the morning when the shades or blinds have not been opened.
Pleased you enjoyed my 5-7-5. It is the style I choose to write in. Longer verses are not in my poetry wheelhouse.

This is a lovely piece, and yes, a reminder of the magic of invisible ink! The poem is well- written, and very lyrical. It conforms to the 5-7-5 style, and though short, leaves a memorable image.

There is a saying that the truth comes out in the dark. This poem has it all--so many glorious literary device gems and a delicious story in such a brief space. One of my faves.

Thanks Shauna for your kind words about our childhood friend, who we really believe did that artwork and inscriptions on our windowpanes.
