A very well-written heartfelt poem. The world events make us feel stressed and uncertain about the future. We can only trust that God is in control despite the chaos there is hope.

Thank you for a thoughtful piece of writing, very relevant to the present times, and the encouragement at the end. It is well written with lovely imagery from nature.

A lovely poem and I appreciate the resolution to faith. We can't put our trust in man or any manmade organization. But we can trust Jesus to be our Guide and help us to cross to the other side with His peace.

Very nicely written poem, Melissa. Your metre is spot on, your rhymes seamlessly woven in to tell this struggle of faith despite all the difficulties come across.

Your presentation and the whole work is very nicely done. :))

Hi Melissa,
What a great job you've done with this poem. It echoes the misery this bully virus is putting us through. It's like we are lost in a dark forest, the path strewn with fallen logs, rocks, and branches. We stumble on our way towards the sea. Once there, as I read your words, I imagine Moses trying to find his way when he was leading the Israelites out of Egypt. The Red Sea blocked the way. But Moses had great faith, and trusted in God for help. That's what we have to do with this virus... exercise our faith and trust in God. This is what I take from your poem. Moses said it much like you do...
"To cross the sea, to breach the tide,
my goal... to reach the other side."
That's where we want to be, on the far side of this pandemic. We have done so well in New Brunswick. But suddenly, we (Saint John) find ourselves in the orange phase, like the city of Moncton. We have to wear a mask now whenever we are outside. The only time we can be mask-free is in our homes or in the car. And I hate these masks. They make my nose itch! They fog up my glasses! Despicable virus.
Your rhyme and rhythm, so nice. There are just two lines I'd draw your attention to.
"my path became strewn with debris" ... ( I suggest,
my path was strewn with mean debris )
and,
"To the sea! The anthem chimes" ... (I suggest,
( Forth to the sea! The anthem chimes )
My favorite lines,
"I traveled paths of mystery
o'er glens and dales toward the sea.
Through darkened shadows of the wood,
I journeyed on as best I could."
and,
"Then, deep inside I felt His peace,
a gentle nudge, a calm release."
Very nice! This could be Poem of the Month". No, it should be Poem of the Month". It encourages us to fight our way through these Covid Days.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Hi Melissa, I should tell you... my real name is Kim. The "bob" part was added on by a friend of mine, Darrell Little, who saw me as one of the Walton family, I guess... "Jim Bob" was the name of one of the sons, I think. Anyway, the nickname of Kimbob stuck.
My full name is "Kimberly Roy", the "Roy" after my Dad. He was Henry Roy McAdam. I kept the "Roy" going, and named our first-born "Matthew Roy". Centuries ago, there was a Rob Roy MacGregor. (The McAdam clan was a sect of the MacGregor clan in the Scottish Highlands.) Rob Roy MacGregor was an outlaw, cattle rustler and horse thief. A family tree search told us that the McAdams were kicked out of Scotland for stealing horses. They went to Ireland, and were promptly kicked out of that country, too. Onward to England, and that country wouldn't put up with it either. So they ended up in the New World.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Save me a leg! I prefer the dark meat.
    Hugs,
    Kimbob

KB... I absolutely love your story and family history. Such a colorful tale about your name and ancestors. I hope you are not stealing horses in this day and age... LOL. My Hubby is named Roy and it too has been passed down through generations.... Love the connection!! Thanks for sharing your story with me!! :)

A beautiful goal it is.
I think only then will we understand,
I also think it won't matter then.
I believe only in hindsight do we
understand much of anything now.
I love the way you've written this,
so expressive!
Happy Thanksgiving week!!

Hello Judy. Thank you so very much for the approval and comments on the verse. I am delighted you see beneath the surface and understand my intent. I agree we will know so much more when we ... cross the sea... :).
I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving too.

What a beautiful piece that is inspirationald and uplifting We are living in uncertain times, but we need to trudge with grit and determination to reach our goal - just the other side of that hill. Great artwork as well.

You sound like you are well on your way to reaching "the other side"! They say sometimes too much introspection can be disconcerting, but you seemed to have reached "a calm release". I admired your rhymed couplets and serene picture. Well done! -Joan

I like the symbolism in this poem. Your lovely picture, of course, sets the stage for your words. It is well written and well rhymed. It is very nicely done.

a gentle nudge, a calm release (love this line.) I did so appreciate your poem. "Fear, the only way out is through." We are living in dark times and those who turn their backs on the Lord will be more than fearful. We have Him on our side, He who walked on the sea of Galilee.
