Beautifully written. I always loved the song blowin in the wind. Maple trees flame red during Indian summer. Blowin in the wind. Very vibrant photo. Nicely done.

    THANK YOU Joanne for your review and stars.

    In my northeast corner of the US, there are a few trees that still have green leaves, but many colorful ones are already sprinkled on the lawns (-;

    Yes that picture is awesome and captures the essence of our Indian Summer. The famous Dylan song is truly a great anthem.

Hey Mark.

I like the way you set up the "blowin' in the wind" closing line in the haiku. The first two lines set the stage and of course I like the Dylan line as it blows the leaves around. That seals the story

That song is one of the most memorable of all time, because no man controls the wind, it goes where it will, as life has a Will also of its own. A beautifully written entry in this contest, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

    Roy,

    Thanks for your encouraging words. Yes, the winds (of time) can be whimsical. I thought the artwork I selected was outstanding, especially for my few words.

Beautiful haiku poem.
The words are nice and the artwork, especially with the vibrant red, is lovely. Leaves blowing in the wind is nice imagery.

Note: My husband and I are of a certain age and have been life-long Dylan fans. I read that when he won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016, there was complaint that music lyrics weren't literature.
One person confronted the committee chair, asking why they'd gone in this direction. She is rumored to have said: "The times, they are a changin'" :)

    Cynthia,

    Thanks for your Dylan report. I was unaware of that rumored remark. He and I share the same birthday, but not the same 1940s birth year. I always said our difference in age was similar to the millions he has that I don?t (-: The anthem songs of Dylan, Seeger, and Peter, Paul, and Mary are all-time classics. All have social meanings even today.

    There were several wonderful singers of that time. It is Dylan who most stays with my husband and me. Blessings.

    Thanks Dolly!

    Dylan?s anthem classics apply to our social situations today. I am of the generation that enjoyed those lads from your side of the pond - The Beatles!

    Stay safe and healthy. Keep writing your poems (-:

I love this Haiku and the bright red leaf that you showcase here. The Bob Dylan song brings back a ton of memories. My first foray into performing... at the PTA Talent Show. LOL!! I forgot entire stanzas, but they clapped anyway. :). Great little verse.

    Melissa,

    Congrats on your ovation received singing performance of yesteryear (-;

    I don?t sing out loud even in the shower. I am afraid the sound would frighten me and I would slip and fall (-;

    Pleased you enjoyed my Dylan inspired post and its selected artwork. I never saw him in a live concert, but did see Peter, Paul, and Mary. Their classic anthem songs resonate today with many of us.

Hi Mark
I like this time of year, while there are still colorful leaves on the trees. Soon wind and rain will send them flying through the air. "Blowin' in the wind" is the perfect song to match the bushwhacking of Autumn.
One suggestion,
"maple leaves flame red
during Indian Summer ~
blowin' in the wind"

I prefer Peter, Paul & Mary's rendition of the song...

    great suggestion - edited accordingly.

    PPM's is certainly lest gravelly. In late 1970s or early 1980s, we attended a concert with them. Dylan was only heard on radio or via video clips

    The terrific thing about the trio was their remarks to us: "it is likely three generations have heard our songs." The hands up verified the same!

    I have Noel Paul Stookey's album, "Wait'll You Hear This". It's a terrific group of Christian songs, including this one:

    You were so lucky to see them in person!

What a combination! Red flame leaves and wind may surely lead to a huge fire! In what poetry refers this is a great combination as well, but much less risky! Artwork combines cold and hot colours giving an impression of equilibrium! Good job!
