You'll always be too young for some people or just not have enough experience to know what you're talking about. I laughed when I read this because I think we can all relate.

Thanks very much for your review, ExperiencingLiphe. The main wisdom I have gained is that of holding my tongue. I never used to listen to my parents and elders, either - especially when they were giving unsolicited advice. LOL Keep safe! All good wishes, Tony

Sorry bro, is hard to - the less I am heard, because you leave within millennial borders and they know it all. Thank you for sharing this piece of wisdom and good luck with the contest.

Oh my, the artwork you chose has one grumpy face. LOL Your contest entry speaks the truth. We do get wiser as we age from the mistakes we've made, we learned, but the young only view us as old fools who know nothing. I wish you the best of luck.

So sad, but true. If only younger ones would realize that what they fear most, we have already experienced and survived. There is something to be said for the school of hard knocks. Not all things can be found online. Just ask anyone over 60...thank you for sharing your words of wisdom. smile...

The 'pleynt' of homo sapiens sapiens for sure is contained in these three lines. A nice touch to use the smaller font in the final line to emphasise your point. But remember the wise old owl who sat in an oak, that we used to mention to the kids in junior school.

The more he heard the less he spoke.
The less he spoke the more he heard
Why can't I be like that wise old bird?

Yes, I well remember the wise old owl! I?d worded this so that it could be taken either way, or so I hoped. However, almost unanimously, reviewers bewailed the way their wisdom goes unheeded, as my wife does, too, much to the detriment of her relationship with our daughter.
We tend to forget how little notice we took of our own parents!

LOL! But so true. Simple and to the point. What did they once say, Youth is wasted on the young. And it's hard to pass on that experience. In a way, there's nothing like having that experience for yourself. estory

Secondhand wisdom has never been a particularly saleable commodity. I find, more and more, that the truer wisdom lies in biting one?s tongue - especially where children are concerned.

Hear! Hear! I could not agree with you more. Below, I give you my first post on FanStory.

If perchance they glance,
witnessing my winter's face,
eyes drift, dismissive.

We are saying the exact same thing. Only, I like yours much better.
Clearly, I love your theme. I'm listening. Well said.

Love that poem of yours! Beautifully worded. Secondhand wisdom has never been a particularly saleable commodity. I find, more and more, that the truer wisdom lies in biting one?s tongue - especially where children are concerned.

The Trump administration finally turned to the Kardashians and Brittney Spears to get the stay home message to the young generation. They do not care to listen to us or the medical community..

Hello Tony,
An excellent three line poem for the contest with an interesting
diminishing presentation. It reinforces the theme very nicely .
Also an interesting assumption that one gets wiser as they grow older. :)
As long as wisdom does not include technological expertise, it might well be true, but I think I'm heard less because my friends are also getting older
and they don't hear as well as they used to. At least that's the excuse they give.
The mammoth art work is impressive and imposing.
You might want to capitalize your title or have each word grow smaller.
Excellent poem.
Good luck in the contest and
best wishes to you and family.
Stay well.
Robert

Thanks, Robert. I trust all is well with you and Pam. You are right! Few of my peers hear my wisdom and those few soon forget it. As far as the young are concerned, secondhand wisdom has never been a particularly saleable commodity. I find, more and more, that the truer wisdom lies in biting one?s tongue - especially with one?s own children.

The older I get
and the wiser I become,
the less I am heard.

Excellent piece for the contest. BEing 70 I find that this is true. I have so much to tell but no one wants to hear. LOL

Ha ha ha! Very witty. Bitingly hilarious! I love your font-play too, with the 'whispered' satori line. This is well paced and flows well, though I'm wondering if you really need the comma after line one.

Quite pitch perfect in delivery. The picture is humorous too.

Chuckling,
rd

Thanks very much, both for your review and for the sixth star, RD. I've removed that comma. The line break provides the slight pause I intended. I've come to realise as I've grown older, that support is far more useful than unsolicited advice.
