Yesterday as Trump raged about what a bad deal NAFTA was for the USA, he quited seriously wrong numbers, saying the US had something like 17B deficit in trade with Canada. The US actually has a surplus of close to 12B annually--and that number factors in energy and lumber. in Florida,
Wouldn't ya think someone in his organization could get the numbers right before he shoots his mouth off?

Haaaaaa, My bet is Trump is given the correct numbers beforehand, but like everything else he engages what the real author of his book, "The Art of the Deal" referred to as truthful hyperbole. He considers it an innocent form of exaggeration and effective form of promotion. Remember, Trump claims his New York tower is 68 floors high and in reality it's 58 floors.
It's too bad someone wouldn't tell the man how much fear, hatred, misery and pain he causes other people with his so-called "innocent" lies.

I'm in transition. Almost certain that Trump is on notice by the likes of Mueller and other watchdogs, I am trying to imagine a post-Trump America.
Even the Republicans got a helluva a lot more than they counted on with this president, and if the Democrats don't come up with a candidate who can inspire and unite, the country will have stopped cutting their grass and parked their redundent appliances on the front porch.
In the long run--of the USA pulls out after this folly--Trump really did shake things up. Like the people who believed in him, I recognize it MIGHT have been a good thing. Unfortunately, it's a social experiment that soured and did little more than set an alarm.
I'll consider his presidency a success if I am still alive when he leaves Washington. Now, that part is certain. What remaons a mystery is when and under what circumstances.

In doing some research for my Crown of Heroic Sonnets on the New World Order I found this interesting tidbit of information on the conspiracy theory's unfolding timeline:
February, 2007: The Montana House of Representatives issues a joint resolution standing against the NAFTA Superhighway, a series of roads running from Canada through the United States to Mexico that represents the first step in the erosion of our borders and the establishment of a hemispheric "North American Union." No such superhighway exists
Well no kidding, Yeesh! Where does this complete fiction come from? Oh wait, I know. Far-right Conservative Evangelicals. Trump and Bannon buy into the New World Order Conspiracy big time.
Do you remember the NAFTA debates, Ingrid?

I remember the noise of the debate, but few details. I CERTNLY REMEMBER THE FALL-OUT AS i WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A STORM THAT DESSIMATED THE JEWELLERY INDUSTRY. IT WIPED OUT MANUFACTURERS IN cANADA. us WALKED IN WITH THEIR OVER-RUNS FROM JC PENNY,ZALES AND WAL-MART AND SOLD GOODS AT BARE COST, AND SOMETIMES BELOW THE COST OF RAW MATERIALS. DOZENS OF COMPANIES SHUT DOWN AND THOUSANDS LOST THEIR JOBS, BUT WE ADJUSTED, IN LARGE PART THE EXCHANGE RATE SAVED OUR BACON--THOSE WHO WERE LEFT
Sorry about the caps/

Its always good to make things clear, when we discuss particular subjects....The NAFTA superhighway is a term used to refer to certain EXISTING, and PROPOSED highways...to say that it dosn't exist is not entirely true...
I understand the effort to defame anything American, but these proposed highways and SUPER CORRIDORS, which connect the road systems of NAFTA haven't been agreed upon ..however, there is a group here in Texas that has proposed further transportation improvements to help the flow of international trade...
There is a lot more to this than what has been mentioned here...but as I said, there's always going to be an effort to defame, anything American, by some, but it would be good to bring to those that are reading here everything about this.
The NAFTA SUPERHIGHWAY, is a hypothetical highway...so much of what is read on the internet, is full of conspiracy theory, and I guess its up to each person to believe it or not...I don't believe all of these theories...the truth of what's going on, usually will be different according to who one chooses to believe.
Just Some Thoughts!

I rather think that Walt Disney had more to do with getting an exceptional road system from Canada to Florida than anything to do with NAFTA. Hundreds of millions of dollars are brought into the southern states by snowbirds seeking a respite from winter.
I'm absolutely certain that I have never defamed the USA, but I don;t have a positive thing to say about the current leadership--an attitude that I am under the impression you share, Mrs. M.
It's as simple as telling a child you hate his behavior, but still love the child. Defame a country? I don;t think so. As Whoopee often says, the current resident of the WH is not representative of every American. Thank God, because my opinion might be very different under those circumstances.

It's so clear, Ingrid, by much of what YOU have said, YOU, have negatives thoughts about this country...I've read much of YOUR words, that just aren't so..Yes You have defamed this country, but that's your right, since we do still allow freedom of speech...Its alright mainly because it gives us a chance to know just how little we are thought of throughout the world...much of it is deserved when it come to the now sitting president of the United States...but much of it is one's personal opinions..

I'm sorry you feel that way, Mrs. M. Aside, or in addition the perpetual lies, bigotry and hate coming out of the oval office, my biggest criticisms of US policy is based or human rights and gun control.
I won;t try to change your mind, and can appreciate you might find my writing too blunt for your taste, bu. As you say, you have the right to express yourself and arrive at your own evaluations. No one can change another's feelings. However, I'd prefer you dislike me personally rather than judge ALL Canadians by my views.
Have a nice day.

It's not about the roads, per se, it's about conflating highways that are needed to transport goods into a border safety issue as a subset of the New World Order conspiracy theory.
Canada lost a lot of manufacturing during that period and the farm family was really hobbled in favour of much larger commercial farms. Nafta is a lot more complex than the way the current American administration is presenting it.

In case you forgot, mrsmajor, the NWO conspirators are also the same group that say President Obama is actually the gay Barry Soetoro born in Kenya. Now THAT is defamation done by Americans to Americans.
