Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran

Israel is currently in the middle of bombing the snot out of Iran. This seems newsworthy, so here's a thread about it. Iran will no doubt try to retaliate.

RE: Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran

Yeah, I saw that. They did threaten that they were going to hit back at Iran. Well, I know I've been called an Isolationist, so I will stay consistent.

I don't care. The U.S. should stay out of it. Enough, foreign wars. I am sick of us sticking our nose into the wars and conflicts on that side of the planet.

Let them handle it. We should work on our own issues.

RE: Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran

Good idea, Lancelott.

Not least because how on earth do you pick a 'side'? I know historically it's always been Israel, but frankly they aren't any better or more 'in the right' than anyone else in the conflicts they are involved in.

I totally understand the backlash in my country after years and years of us supporting Israel no matter what they do.

I think we ought to stay out of it, too. I hope we do. But staying out of it includes not selling any side weapons or otherwise declaring any allegiance.

But, since you stick to your principles, Lance, I will stick to my firm belief that both America and the UK don't get involved in other people's wars because we're 'nice'. Or the world's police, or anything else.

It's self-interest. Always has been. Everyday citizens like you and I might not always know what that interest is, but it's there.

And in that part of the world, our interference has achieved very little.

RE: Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran

It looks like our interference has achieved quite a bit. In the last week, Iran has lost most of its top generals, most of its missile launchers, much of its nuclear program. Now the media is in a tizzy wondering if we will bomb through 300 feet of rock with multiple 30,000lb bombs to take out their nuclear mountain.

What's Iran doing in return? Shooting at hospitals and civilian areas. They are losing both the tactical war and the PR war. This is merely providing the US with more reasons to weaken the current undemocratic regime in Iran. The world has probably had about enough of Netanyahu, but it's even more pissed off right now at Iran destabilizing everything around it and making trade dangerous and expensive for everyone. This isn't about right or wrong. It's about the balance of political and military capital in the world right now. And Iran has overplayed its hand.

RE: Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran
Well, no prizes for guessing whose 'side' Harambe is on, and it's predictable.

I'm with Emma, there is no good and bad side here. You almost seem gleeful, or at least proud, that yet again, your country has "interfered" (your word).

Over 55,000 Palestinians have died in this conflict at the hands of Israel, over 80% of them civilians, and you berate Iran for "Shooting at hospitals and civilian areas"? Oh, please.

Wouldn't it be great if a huge vortex could open up and swallow the military and political leaders on all sides, and leave the normal folk to just get on with their lives without all the bullshit?

RE: Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran
Can you tally the number of hospitals Israel has shelled in Gaza then?

Seems the PR war must be very unfair if Iran is losing it because one missile hit a hospital!

Not to mention the Israeli tactic of starving a whole population.

Now let's consider Trump's moronic rhetoric on the situation and his seeming tendency to be swayed by a single morning of watching Fox 'News' into suddenly believing that a new war will be good for his legacy.

It's educational to see how his narcissism operates. A few days ago it was telling him that he was so powerful he could simply talk Iran out of a war that has been many decades in the making. Today he can't stand to see Israel get all the glory so he clearly wants to jump into the fray.

This is what you get when you elect a madman to the White House. But never mind geopolitics - at least you have two shiny new flagpoles!

Pay attention Steve. This war has nothing to do with Gaza. Edit: you too, Craig. Did you two even read anything here? Read the last three sentences I wrote above.

"This war has nothing to do with Gaza."

You really do come out with some ridiculous crap.

Is this your new flavour of the month tactic? Come out with nonsensical statements that cause us to waste our energies demonstrating the obvious?

BTW, the other thread seems to have developed a glitch and I cannot save comments anymore despite multiple refreshes. So I will no longer be commenting there, and here's my final reply on that topic:

Those two courts are irrelevant to anything accept whether Colorado could or could not remove a candidate from the ballot. Perhaps it's SCOTUS's absence of a broader comment that shows their irrelevance.
