I guess he was being proactive, considering the vindictive threats his nemesis has made, and would no doubt carry out.
That doesn't stop the whole idea of a President, or anyone, being able to pardon someone convicted of a criminal offense a ridiculous notion.

If anyone accepts a pardon (and they don't have to), it is the equivalent of a confession of guilt.

There are substantial differences between legislative immunity and a pardon; the latter carries an imputation of guilt and acceptance of a confession of it, while the former is noncommittal, and tantamount to silence of the witness.

Gloria had said earlier that Biden was of "average intelligence". Why the change in verdict? With pardons, he could be smart, or stupid, or selfish, or magnanimous depending on how it's parsed.
Smart, to avoid high-profile partisan lynchings by his successor that divide the country.
Stupid, to send the signal that all the people he preemptively pardoned were inherently guilty, and to set the precedent of a preemptive pardon.
Selfish, to set his own family and most vital stooges -- Fauci in particular -- above the law. Fauci looked like a pretty reasonable guy until he overreacted to Rand Paul's accusations in a Senate hearing, where his role in gain-of-function research and profiteering was exposed.
Magnanimous, to take the political pressure off of Trump and buy him a ton of political capital for his own list of outrageous pardons. And that's where the problem starts.
Overall history will likely side with Gloria that it's STUPID, becuase of the precedent of lowering the bar for executive behavior, trashing his legacy by exposing the Biden crime family for what it is. The general public will ignore the potential alternate interpretations of his behavior above, and will judge Biden as either A) doing what was necessary because Trump = Hitler or B) putting himself before the country, as usual, which is exactly what folks accuse Trump of doing.

Trump has made a broad crackdown on illegal immigration his top priority, and Congress, with Republicans in control and some Democrats willing to go along, is showing it is ready to follow suit. The bill passed 64-35, with 12 Democrats joining with Republicans voting in favor.
Passage of the Laken Riley Act — named after a Georgia nursing student whose murder by a Venezuelan man last year became a rallying cry for Trump’s White House campaign — was a sign of how Congress has shifted sharply right on border security and immigration.
Passage came just minutes before Trump signed the first of his executive orders.

Just to be clear, in case you were referring to me, I am not a Democrat. I am a Conservative which is the Canadian equivalent of the Republicans.
Great explanation, H. That about covers all bases and most eloquently too. My guess is that Biden has no intention of going quietly into the good night. He has yet to realize he has little ability to launch anything but I'm sure that won't stop him from trying even though he already burned down the Democratic Party on his way out.
But ultimately they are the target of his rage aren't they? How dare they overlook the self-proclaimed absolute genius of Scranton Joe their empathetic saviour? And to think the Democrats held this deluded poseur in high-esteem in their ranks for over 50 years! That's a sobering thought. They should've let him go down in the flames of defeat in the election as he most certainly would have.
All of Biden's wounds were self-inflicted because he has zero ability to see his limitations. Let's hope Joe retires to beach house in Delaware and stays there.
So Jim Jordan said on January 10, 2025 that the Hunter Biden investigation will proceed after Biden leaves the White House. So how does that work after Hunter was already granted a pardon December 1, 2024 and isn't it a waste of tax dollars?
